CHIKAMATSU SHŌ | ||||||||
| ||||||||
APPEARANCE HEIGHT 5’10’’ WEIGHT 145 lbs. Shō is regarded by most to be beautiful, albeit of a more boyish kind. Something about his face, for example, just screams “little shit”, like the face of a child who never looks to be up to anything good. This is because of the strange quality of soft arrogance that makes up his flamboyant flair. After years of making certain facial expressions, the muscles of his face seemed to form into a natural countenance of devilish beauty. All of these things plus his toned (nearly slim) build give him a delicate appearance. Though, since his early years, he has lost the fine definition that he had before, having a more rounded and full shape due to increased fat; this due to his inability to work out as intensely as he once did. He has long blonde hair and fair skin, a product of his travels with his dad and his training, which kept him out of the desert for most of his life, combined skin health secrets that he picked up along the way. After all, one can not be flamboyant if one has bad skin. He has color eyes, which matches his blonde pretty well, both usually drawing attention to his face. He usually dresses in an attention-grabbing manner, showing his thighs and calves, wearing shorts that are loose enough to be considered morally acceptable yet fitted enough to provide significant detail when he crouches or bends over. When he feels like being more conservative, he’ll wear knee length shorts with white wrapping up to inch below his calves to draw attention to them. He prefers sleeveless shirts sometimes, but often wears long-sleeved shirts or jackets to hide his prosthetic arm, which he keeps hidden under white wrapping because he finds it to be unsightly. While this may seem uncomfortable in the desert, the material of his clothes is usually woven to allow air to flow freely through it. In combat, his bottoms don't change much. However, he usually does away with his top in favor of a flak vest with four pockets on the chest. He also carries an item pouch and twin shuriken holsters on each thigh.
PERSONALITY NINDO -- “Inspire the future, determine history, provide vision; Great men are known by their influence on the world.” He makes his ideas known to any who will listen, and even to those who do not. He is a know-it-all in a sense, or some would say, but in actuality he is simply fond of learning and knowledge and sometimes lacks a filter when it comes to sharing what he knows. As it happens, though, this is one of the reasons why he was selected to be Kazekage, because those in the village and within his clan knew that he had good ideas for the future. Lewisian in that sense, he is the sort of person who enjoys conversations about things such as politics, most especially with those who disagree with him. He was, in fact, an unofficial adviser to the former Kazekage, who adopted a significant number of his ideas when one considers that they disagreed with one another heavily, politically speaking. He has also shown the uncanny ability to rise above other men as a grounded and strong personality. Unless a person naturally dislikes him for whatever reason, he tends to become an anchor for those around him, which is true even is some cases where he shows incompetence. As his late friend, Shōri, put it: “I don’t know why I rely on you so much. Or trust you the way that I do. I dont know really. But you seem so solid, I guess. Like weighted? I don't know. I just never get the sense that you’re confused or lost. Emotionally, yes, but apart from that, you always know what you're doing. Like my dad? You two make me feel like I'm unfit to be an heir.” This perhaps derives from the way that he was taught to strive against his illness, as he considers that to have been (and to be) the suckiest thing to ever happen to him. And as he goes through life, just as when he strove against his illness, he displays a stunning clarity of thought, always knowing what he has to do and knowing which way he has to go in order to potentially surpass any given hurdle. This trait can also be said to be credited to his Hitogan (and further influenced by his nindō), which taught him that, most of the time, a strong constitution was all that was necessary to make others feel safe. As such, he tends to be somewhat selfless. His thoughts are on the village more often than they are on himself, and even as he thinks about himself, it is often in the context of other people receiving some sort of legacy from himself. Which is not to say that he lacks selfish thoughts. In fact, his obsession with the idea of legacy often has him focused on his own faults and shortcomings. He is also emotionally incompetent. He has tried love, and discovered that it doesn't quite work out as well as sex. And while he cares for his family and clansmen, he can not say, with the exception of his younger brother, that he loves them. He does love the idea of his clan though, and the idea of the village, which produces a general attachment towards the people. They are “his” people, and he is one of them. It should be noted, however, that he has not given up on love. In fact, he is really only recently discovering his homosexuality, and believes that may be his key to romance. This produces a point of internal conflict, though, because men can never give him children, and he is obsessed with the idea of legacy, something that skipped the notice of those who selected him. He hides it well due to the fact that he believes himself to be among the bottom-feeders of the shinobi world, and so saves himself the pain of being laughed at. His surface level nindō therefore reads something like this: “Hope in the future, but learn from the legacies of those who came before.” However, he isn’t a legacy chaser just because of his poor self-esteem. Primarily, it is his fatal heart defect that drives him. He does not know exactly when he will die, but has been assured that he will not live beyond the age of thirty, and this has always chewed at his spirit. But, having been selected as Kazekage, he feels even more pressure than ever before to leave a legacy worthy of his title. Although a pleasant and cheerful and sociable leader, it should be noted that Shō is a rather sad person at heart. He hides it well through flamboyance and hopeful-yet-odd social interaction. He laughs a lot, at himself most especially, because he loves humor, and often times displays a morbidly-sunny approach towards death. And while suicide has crossed his mind before, he has never seriously considered it. He is the type to make life brighter for those around him, and so hides his pain more often than not. He is a tough man, in other words, as one raised up on the principles of the Sakyū must be. While this does fuel his poor self-esteem, as he considers himself a below-average fighter, it nevertheless prevents him from becoming victim to said weakness. This is because his personal expression of his clan’s principles is not strength for oneself (survival of the fittest) but strength for the sake of others (the cooperation of community). He does not believe himself worthy of his position, as may have been apparent. In fact, he is always looking for someone who could replace him, or someone he could raise up to take his place. This feeds into his desire for a child even more, as he believes that giving birth to a child who could someday become Kazekage would be among the greatest of influences that he can ever leave. It should also be noted that Shō’s flamboyance derives partly from a sense of self-disregard. He does not care if people think him odd or strange or if they disagree with his behavior because he will, eventually, die; and sooner than most at that. Unlike his obsession with legacy, this part of personality did come under the scrutiny of those who selected him; however, because of how little time he has left to live anyway, it was eventually considered inconsequential.
HISTORY Shō was born to a Sakyū mother and a Chikamatsu father, the former being a formidable kunoichi in her day while the other was a formidable puppeteer. He was the second-born of the couple after his older brother, Mori, who was thirteen years older than him. For the first parts of his life, Shō lived rather tranquilly. He didn't have much to worry about, and spent most of his time with his dad. This was because he loved his dad's puppets, and wanted to learn how to control them. He dreamed of becoming a famous Chikamatsu puppeteer, as it happened, but this changed later in his life once his Hitogan activated. It occurred while he was on the road, touring the country with his father and performing shows. He almost died, his father having to rush him to the territory of a clan that he was allied with in order to get a sense of what was happening to Shō. The clan specialized in medical practices, and were able to determine that Shō's dōjutsu was draining him of chakra. To remedy this, they put him on a combination of chakra supplements and steroids (the supplements meant to sustain his chakra while the steroids were meant to cultivate his reserves), paired with a training regime intended to cultivate his spiritual energies. They also informed his dad of a defect that was afflicting Shō’s heart, eating away at it as time passed. During the time of his recovery, Shō was unable to travel with his dad. He was confined to his home in Kaze no Kuni while he recovered. While unfortunate, it allowed him to spend more time with his younger brother, Yasei, and he was also able to hold "play dates" with the son of the heir of the clan that saved his life, who he met while recovering in the clan’s hospice. The boy was named Shōri, and the two eventually became best-friends and close allies, establishing a lasting connection between the Sakyū and the clan that saved Shō. He also began to spend more time with his mom, who took to drilling him so that he could develop the constitution necessary to endure his dōjutsu, which never-ever deactivated. This was the beginning of his shinobi training, and his shift from the dream of becoming a puppeteer to the responsibility of his Sakyū heritage. “You look fine. Your eyes are cool.” This was Shōri’s personality, always supporting Shō and reaffirming his worth. Though, as it happened, the same was true in reverse. Without the two boys knowing it, they gradually became one another’s strength. This was especially true of Shō, who could tell whenever Shōri was particularly down and upset through his Hitogan. He had to learn when to allow Shōri to grieve and when to comfort him, noticing that just by being strong, himself, he often helped his friend to feel better. He also noticed this about his family members, and so started to hide his pain in favor of a solid demeanor. However, with the pain of his circumstances eating away at him on the inside, Shō also began to develop a wicked sense of humor, which was the precursor to his eventual flamboyance. In particular, he became especially fond of his younger brother, who he thought needed a balance to his mom’s hardness. He used his ocular perception and his personality to navigate Yasei, showing a softness and energy that their mom could sometimes lack. He also used his knowledge of puppeteering to help Yasei whenever their dad was away, which forged a common bond between the two. With this solidness, he pushed through his mother’s training, developing skills and techniques and nurturing and cultivating his abilities. By the age of ten, he was able to accompany his mother and brother on Yasei’s training battles, which were like skirmishes with minor-but-dangerous enemies, such as bandits. He was not considered a skilled enough combatant to join in on clan missions, but performed admirably during these stints. At age twelve, he went out on his first mission with Yasei, who was considerably stronger than him in terms of raw combat potential. At that point in time, Shō was focused on medical arts, having learned some things from Shōri, and had great skill in Shurikenjutsu, so his main focus was to keep his eyes on Yasei, supporting him, and healing him if anything bad happened. This was a mistake. So focused on his brother, Shō lost track of their other teammates. There were six of them, and one of them went down before Shō knew what happened. It was the boy’s scream that snapped Shō into focus, causing him to panic. He froze for just a moment, but quickly regained himself and pursued his responsibilities as a medic. He was able to heal the boy to some degree under the cover of his allies, but quickly dropped the task once he saw that Yasei was in trouble. Panicking even more, he raced to Yasei’s aid, completely unaware that their captain was already nearby and on the move to help. Two of their comrades died then, and the third had to retreat to Yasei’s location, where Shō was headed, and where their captain was. This was the day that Shō passed out in the field from heavy fatigue. It was discovered that his heart had grown much worse in the past four years. It was said that the treatment of Shōri’s clan was the only reason that he survived, as it had given him such great constitution that the eventual loss of chakra and physical energy caused by his illness had a significantly decreased effect on his health. The first thing that he did was apologize to Yasei. Not just for the mission, but also for his health. He said that he wished that he could be there for Yasei, and that it wasn't fair for Yasei to have him as an older brother. The next thing that he did was apologize to Shōri through a letter, sayings things similar to the things that he said to Yasei, but also adding that he was sorry that he had wasted the art of Shōri’s clan. This was the first time that either one of them would ever truly see him sad. The next thing he did was to apologize to his mom. Unable to effectively perform in the field anymore, Shō decided to give up on becoming a shinobi. But this was when his mom gave him her speech, and sent him off to be with his dad. His dad was then able to leave him with Shōri’s father, who took Shō under his wing, claiming that he was too talented of a medic to give up on the shinobi life, and that even if he stopped him, he should use his talent for medicine for good. This was how Shō met Katsuyu, only learning the Katsuyu no In years later after Shōri died. While he was learning more about medicine (not medical ninjutsu, which he refused to practice anymore), Shō, in his personal time, turned towards a destructive form of “suicide” ninjutsu designed to counteract his incompetence in combat. (Shō noticed that the reason that the reason that shinobi were never injured by their own techniques was because of their control over them, but theorized that this reduced the raw power of the techniques. The basis of “suicide” ninjutsu, then, was to forgo the control for the power at the cost of damaging one's own body.) This form of fighting included using his Hitogan to recklessly hyper-acclerate the activity of his nervous system, which caused damage that took years to properly heal. By the end of the year he was back on the road with his dad, having learned to manage his condition, plus having gained a great enough constitution to endure it. He performed again during these years, and started to gain some of his former pep back. However, with greater pain came greater wickedness of humor, and Shō began to parody himself, essentially, adopting risky behaviors and flamboyant mannerisms as way to degrade himself to himself. At the same time though, he was struggling with his self-worth, and his change also had a lot to do about affirmation and attention and validation. When he returned to his home, his change shocked everyone just as much as it had confounded his dad. Only Yasei seemed somewhat unsurprised, which was perhaps due to the fact that he was changing, himself. Shō was also surprised, however: During his time away, Sh333ri’s clan had migrated closer to Sakyū territory after the Sakyū helped them against Jūbi’s clones. They brought some clans that they were allied with along with them, one of which actually integrated into Shōri’s clan after their clan had been almost completely destroyed. One of these clans had an heir named Seiko, a notable kunouchi who had befriended Shōri during Shō’s absence. They were like best-friends, in fact, which aggravated Shō in a way that he couldn’t expain. And when he found out that she had a crush on him, that made it even worse. And something about the way he interacted with Shōri set her off, too, and they ended up becoming rivals of a sort. Yet, through Shōri, they could not help but become friends as time passed. This was especially cemented when Shō lost his arm due to his ninjutsu style, and Seiko saw Shōri’s pain, and then Shō’s pain, and then understood just what they meant to one another. After that incident, Shō ended up promising to Shōri, Seiko, and even Yasei that he would change his form of fighting, which marked his return to medicine and iryōninjutsu. As the three bonded, they eventually began to make names for themselves. Once the shinobi villages were formed, they became known as Team Conquest for their names (Shō meaning Victory, Shōri meaning Triumph, and Seiko meaning Success) and their accomplishments. This, however, happened after Shō spent a year and a half away with Katsuyu, sometimes visited by Shōri’s father, perfecting his iryōninjutsu. During that time, Shōri received grevious injuries that required Shō’s dad (with the help of Yasei) to replace the vast majority of the boy’s body with combat prosthetics. This was kept from Shō until he returned, which devasted him, but allowed him to to train without interruption. Some time after the formation of the villages, Shōri died in combat, with Shō being unable to save his life. This propeled his skills even further, and since his son had died, Shōri’s father decided that Shō should inherit the Katsu no In. All of Shō’s secret emotions for Shōri poured out of him once the Katsu no In was given to him, directed towards a beautiful young man who no longer lived, and who would never know that he was truly loved. This turned Shō’s dōjutsu into a crimson color, a vibrant crimson that seemed so full of energy. His Stage Two Hitogan had unlocked, simultaneously unlocking a part of Shō that had always existed in darkness. After this event, Shō and Seiko began to drift apart, so he naturally became even closer to Yasei, who was his next closest friend after Shōri. And as time went on, Shō and Yasei became a well-oiled and well-rounded team in their own right, allowing Shō to make up for what he’d done all those years ago, even though he never truly forgave himself. Through his increasing medical ability and his use of Katsuyu, and his “vibrant eyes that were like the Sharingan”, he started to gain greater notoriety. This, among other things, lead him to meeting the Kazekage, who was well-acquainted both with Shōri’s father, who was the head medic at the time, and Shō’s dad, who had great clout due masterful applications of combat prosthetics to save the lives of various shinobi. And it was primarily through that relationship that Shō was selected to be Sandaime Kazekage.
SPECIALIZATIONS: Hitogan | Soul Eye SKILL RANK: (A) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Shō is a Hitogan master. He has well-trained, powerful eyes that possess the capacity to perceive across the the village of Sunagakure no Sato and beyond, stretching a total of sixty meters while unfocused. While meditating, his vision triples, granting great enough vision to view the land around him as a giant, complex chess board during times of conflict and warefare. His vision has been mastered to the point that he can at times view coherent thought, and in some techniques, even relay it. He is also formidable with the dōjutsu’s brand of ninjutsu. He uses it for many purposes, showing great dexterity with all four forms of the expressions of the Hitogan’s ninjutsu; represented in his “Majestic Display” techniques (which govern projection and the manipulation of bioelectricity), his “Revolutionary Techniques (which govern manipulation and intent), and his Peasant techniques (which govern impression and the manipulation of intent). An imprortant note, Shō’s Hitogan is always active due to a rare birth defect. Because of this, his dōjutsu never deactivates, even when he is low on chakra. Also, because Shō lacks the cognitive training of his Heizento ancestors, whose surname meant “with composure”, he can sometimes have trouble with his Hitogan during moments of turmoil, accidentally projecting his emotions to people. In a similar vein, his Hitogan can also become his greatest weakness for this reason. For example, if someone were to try and seduce Shō, his ability to experience their lust could trigger lust within him, causing a compounded effect where he loses his ability to resist the seduction. NINJUTSU: SKILL RANK: (A) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Ninjutsu is undoubdetedly Shō’s greatest field of mastery. His most formidabe skill in the area of ninjutsu being Iryō Ninjutsu, he also shows reputable ability with Barrier Ninjutsu, Summoning Ninjutsu, Elemental Ninjutsu, Non-Elemental Ninjutsu, Bunshinjutsu, and Chakra flow. He has also, in theory, created various forms of Hijutsu and Kinjutsu. Long story short, he is a titan in the field. TAIJUTSU: SKILL RANK: (E) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Shō possesses no real talent in Taijutsu. He can perform basic strikes, but that is about it. BUKIJUTSU: SKILL RANK: (C) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Shurikenkutsu and kenjutsu are the extent of Shō’s practical bukijutsu ability. He is about as skilled as the average shinobi with bladed weapons, but posseses notable skill in shurikenjutsu, able to mainuplate projectiles with the same fluidity that he displays with his chakra control. GENJUTSU: SKILL RANK: (B) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: While he picked the art up later in life, Shō came to develop a sharp ability with Genjutsu. Mostly, he has developed a respectable ability to defend against Genjutsu. Granted, they can still give him a hard time depending on the technique (irregardless of rank) but he tends to be pretty good at combating them all the same. FUUINJUSTU: SKILL RANK: (A) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: While he does not have much to show for it from a combat perspective, Shō has a formidable knowledge of Fūinjutsu. It is because he already viewed himself as a below-average fighter that he strayed from Fūinjutsu in a practical sense, recognizing that it would not make him any stronger, only placing him within a more crippling niche, but he never dropped his curiosity of the art. He has been working on many Fūinjutsu ideas in theory, in fact, having seen the value in them through Jūbi (who he believes could have been defeated more efficiently through Fūinjutsu) and through Katsuyu, who brought out his repressed potential when she taught Shō to use Katsu no In. For these reasons, he has also become invested in finally trying to learn some of the techniques that he created when he was younger.
COMBAT INFORMATION NATURAL CHAKRA: Doton CHAKRA AFFINITIES: Raiton ARCHETYPE: DS SUMMONING CONTRACT: Shikkotsu Forest INVENTORY 00 | -- 00 | -- 00 | -- SPECIAL ABILITIES Genius of Engineering Shō has always been regarded by those close to him as a particularly intelligent person—crafty and witty; but most importantly, he displays an uncanny ability to theorize, plan, prepare, design, produce, and sustain concepts with stunning accuracy. This is perhaps credited to his great clarity of thought once he puts his mind to something, but Shō is a masterful engineer. A skill that goes beyond just physical constructs, it also applies to ideas: techniques, systems, formations, strategies and tactics; teams, organizations, and more. This is part of what makes him such a great teacher, as he is able to generate various ways to use the abilities of others, often times in ways that they may not have ever considered on their own, even deconstructing those techniques that they do posses in order to find greater ways to further their ideas. This could potentially allow him to turn even the most hopeless of prospects into titans. He has the mind of a master architect—the mind of a master manipulator—without really knowing it. However, Shō is also skilled in the area of physical construction, too. He has become a sort of expert in the area of combat prosthetics, and was in fact the one who (alongside his father) created the prosthetic arm for the late Mizukage. He has enough skill in this area to save the lives of those who have received even the most horrible injuries, having spent years studying the body of his late friend, Shōri. As such, he has also come to display an expert knowledge of the mechanics of puppets, and works as his brother’s engineer and repairman. He displays this same level of engineering with weaponry as well, and possesses the ability to reverse-engineer many things in order to understand and replicate their functions. Iryōnin Shō’s talent as an iryōnin goes beyond just his knowledge of the human body and his ability to heal. His training as an iryōnin honed and sharpened his senses, teaching him to analyze and track even the most minute of details about his enemies and about his surroundings in order to help him avoid damage in the field. He can navigate pupeteers by observing their hand and finger movements; kenjutsu practitioners by tracking the swing of their waists and feet; genjutsu practiotioners by memorizing their triggers and timing and so on. Moreover, he is also an expert at analyzing other aspects of the body, and even those of the mind, in order to memrorize his opponent’s tendencies, patterns, proclivities, and preferences, which his Hitogan helps with. However, he is also formidable in the general sense of iryōnin skills, able to heal even the most extreme damage at amazing speeds. He can heal damage to all areas of the body (the chakra pathway system and the tenketsu, the nervous system, the muscular system, etc) and also damage done to the mind. His knowledge of the body, even of non-human anatomies, is also sharp enough to perform extreme medical procedures, such as experimentations and modifications, which he used to make himself immune to common poisons found throughout the world. His ability as a medic is also bolstered by his engineering ability, as it has led him to create techniques and technologies that have furthered the success of medicine both for himself and for his village. This is especially true as it pertains to his knowledge of puppetry and combat prosthetics, as this allows him to save those who have been injured even beyond the care of his iryōninjutsu (for example, if a person has been bisected). Chakra Control Two congenital conditions are to blame for Shō’s chakra control: 1. his clan’s affinity for the trait, and 2. his fatal heart condition; for as the former gave him a solid foundation to start from, the latter is what caused him to develop the skill so potently. Essentially, his weak heart has lead to weak physical energies, which means that, after he reached his teen years, his chakra reserves officially became significantly below average, such that if any sensor were to see him standing beside the other kage through no other context but their chakra sensory, they would believe him to be horribly out of place. Because of this, wisdom was forced upon him by fate, producing in Shō a level of chakra control that could be considered unprecedented. It is not enough to simply say that he never wastes chakra; rather, he literally never uses more chakra than necessary when performing techniques. His efficiency is one-hundred percent. Along those same lines, the speed at which he is able to mold chakra into techniques and cast them would neutralize even the vision of seasoned Hyūga. This combined with the fact that he can perform techniques of the caliber of Kage Bunshin no Jutsu without handseals makes him one to never underestimate. This skill is probably best displayed through his Hitogan.Because of a rare birth defect, the dōjutsu never deactivates, but with his chakra control, Shō has reduced the energy output of his eyes to the point that having them active is little different from having regular eyes. Moreover, the fact that Shō is able to manage this even when he uses other techniques (including those that require great chakra control and concentration) is a further testament to his skill. As it relates to his iryōninjutsu, this skill allows him the ability to heal injuries with great potency. Known to be a powerful healer, he can heal even the most grievous wounds (such as extreme burns or mild punctures to the heart) within two minutes using nothing more than Shōsen Jutsu, giving him an extremely high survival rate as a medic. With Genjutsu, the strength of his chakra flow makes his techniques harder to break through Genjutsu: Kai. (This gives techniques a one rank boost in strength, but does not increase the actual damage.) Natural-Born General Given how often he fights through third parties, it should be no surprise that Shō has mastery over logistics. Once he knows how many shinobi he has at his disposal, his brain instantly abstracts the numbers together with other factors (such as geography, abilities, etc) and produces a chessboard-like vision of all of the different possibilities and combos that he has at his disposal. This is even more in-depth if he knows the strengths and weaknesses of his enemies, as it narrows the possible outcomes. He is then able to best exploit said factors by selecting the best possible course of action from amongst the various options. He is also quick-witted, however, and also far-seeing, and so never generates a course of action without knowing the many ways (although not necessarily all of the ways) that said action can be countered. This means that while he always has some sort of countemeasure prepared in case his action is countered, he is also able to adjust within the moment, noticing and exploiting minute weaknesses and openings in a moment’s notice and with great precision. This could be considered his greatest skill, as he is most dangerous when in a position of command, exploiting the abilities of other beings. Damaged Nervous System Shō’s nervous system never fully recovered from the damage that he did to it when he was younger, which has produced both benefits and setbacks from both a combat perspective and a non-combat perspective. He is hyper responsive to sudden movements, for example, always reacting to them in some way. This can range from quick glances towards the direction of the movement to sudden shifts in posture. In combat, this allows him to track sudden changes of position, which gives him the ability to keep track of high-speed targets, as well as the ability to respond to their attacks. It also makes him highly susceptible to feints, however. Involuntary movements can also be triggered by heightened emotions. While it sounds like an irrelevant setback, this can actually harm Shō in times of diplomacy, where the ability to hide one’s responses and reactions is always critical. Determination of A Weak Heart A product of the Sakyū clan, Shō never had the luxury of complaining about his condition. His mother never allowed it, drilling into his mind the idea that he would be strong no matter the circumstances. And ironically, even with all of his self-esteem issues, Shō believed her. Not because he wanted to, but because he had to: “My legacy will not be one of weakness. I will give you away before that happens, and if your father refuses, I will leave; and if he refuses that, I will kill him. But my legacy will not be one of impotence; you will be my strength, or either nothing at all.” And sure enough, his mother was always his single biggest fan, such that whenever he succeeded, Shō could hear his mother’s praises, and feel his mother’s pride, and this drove him to continue his success. As such, he has always been strong of mind, in a sense, possessing an amazing amount of determination that propelled him forward through the tiers of strength, allowing him to become a reputable shinobi even at a young age. This despite how morbid his view of himself may be. This will is also the thing that makes Shō a natural leader. It gives great clarity of thought, producing potent visions of his goals and the possible futures that his actions can create. This roots him in a way that causes people to perceive a solidness about his presence. In combat, in particular, this ability has the advantage of calming Shō’s allies when within his presence. This is, in certain circumstances, accompanied by an explosion of morale that boosts the performance of his allies for a time (the time period can increase or decrease depending on subsequent successes and failures) which could shift the momentum of a battle in Shō’s favor (this is nullified or diminished if the ally in question knows nothing of Shō or dislikes him enough). The morale boost is most especially potent if Shō actually enters the fray and fights alongside his allies. His will also has an effect on those he teaches, similar to the effect that his mom had on him, where his pupils are more often able to push through their limits, and even progress at faster rates than otherwise possible. (Whether this has any OOC benefits is up to the staff.)
