Promotion System As with the military systems in our universe, the military system of the Naruverse consists of varying ranks. The purpose of this thread is to provide general knowledge for our member base concerning this organization. More so based on the general aspects of how the promotion system works throughout the ranks if you were looking for the ranks themselves you should be looking here. We will be starting from the very bottom of the rung the Academy Student and working our way up all the way to village leader. Also things like Anbu personal will not be on this list as that is technically not a rank but a job title for more information on ANBU and other things as well as how to become one you should click here.
Academy Student The Academy Student the only position held on site not by someone who is a ninja, however, they are ninja in training and are very close to becoming fully fledged ninja. As such it makes sense that theis rank would be the easiest and quickest to receive a promotion, in order to be considered for promotion all one has to do is learn and gain a working control over the five basic jutsu that all ninja should learn. Once completed all the Academy Student has to do is find their Chūnin teacher and set up a graduation ceremony, the graduation ceremony must be done in front of the village head or it is not valid. The ceremony consist of the Academy Student performing each of the jutsu while under some sort of stressful situation. This is to ensure that the Academy Student holds at least some mastery over the jutsu, the situations themselves will be sanctioned by either the Chūnin the village leader or by both. Upon the end of the test the Village Leader alone will decide if the Academy Student showed enough mastery to pass the test, if so the Academy Student will post the promotion application within the approriate board and the staff will do the rest.
Requirements- Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Replacement Technique)
- Kakuremino no Jutsu (Cloak of Invisibility Technique)
- Bunshin no Jutsu (Clone Technique)
- Nawanuke no Jutsu (Rope Escape Technique)
- Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Technique)
- The Village head must be present
- Be D ranked in at least one specialty
Genin Once becoming a Genin or low ninja is when the ninja is bestowed their Hitai-ate or forehead protectors which signify them as ninja, as such this is when they first begin to help their villages economy by being sent on missions that themselves and the villagers get paid for. That being said, every Genin in order to advance to the next rank will have to show their worth by chalking up an appropriate amount of missions. Once at the very least the minimum of required missions has been completed the Genin team leader will nominate his team for promotion to the village head. The village head will work in tandem with the Genin team leader in order to come up with the task of the exams. These exams will be written out as if they are taking place on a world wide scale with other teams and three rounds of challenges though the other teams will be NPC'ed by the village leader as well as the team leader. Also if two or more teams would like to collaborate and do their exams together that is fine, if another team from another village is partaking ICly then that village leader must also partake ICly. Please note that while the exams are being written out personally and NPC'd by those involved the results are cannon to our site so if you're going around killing other Genin from other villages you will not make very many friends within said village. At the end of the exams the Village head(s) will decide who did and did not pass the exams those who did will submit their promotion application within the correct board and the staff will do the rest, those that do not will be mixed into into teams or have new Genin join their team in order to have a chance to try again.
Requirements- 10 Successful D rank missions
- 5 Successful C rank missions

Chūnin Upon graduation to the rank of Chūnin the once Genin is given a flak jacket to signify that they are sanctioned to lead Genin. At their new rank the middle ninja or Chūnin has several options to choose, which means several different ways to rank up to more advanced levels. One of the many jobs a Chūnin can have is teaching the next level of Academy Students and being assigned a classroom where they will be responsible for teaching students how to become Genin, the other job they could have is one of leadership and tactical prowess in leading missions with the lesser Genin or tagging along with Jōnin on several missions. Depending on that choice when the Chūnin has met all requirements they may go to a Jōnin and ask them to bare witness to their skill as they try to advance to the next level. If they agree the Jōnin will ask what their specialization is and tailor an assignment for the applicant to test his abilities in that field. This is the only promotion that does not need the village head to be present, however, the Jōnin will fill out a debreifing of the mission and recommend or not if the applicant should be promoted. Usually that is all it takes to raise to the next level.
Requirements - Learn a Second Chakra Nature
- 10 C rank missions
- 5 B rank missions
- ! A rank mission (chosen by village leader ride along with a Jōnin [can be NPC'ed but only by the village leader])
- Choose to live that life
- Be A rank in at least one Specialty
Special Jōnin A Chuunin who is not yet ready to be a fully fledged Jounin in all areas but has mastered a specialized craft or two could apply to become a Special Jounin. Because Special Jounin is pretty much just a fancy title to say that the ninjais a Chuunin that specializes in one thing above other there is not much that goes into getting the promotion. Upon deciding that they have enough skill in the area they wish to specialize in they will apply for a Jounin level mission and if they survive they will be considered Special Jounin. However this does not put them above other Chuunin in the peaking order and when in any situation other than their area of expertise they are considered normal Chuunin and while in their area of expertise they are considered more then Chuunin they are not on par with Jounin.
Requirement- Learn one SA regarding your area of expertise (if your going for the max of two areas of expertise then you would need to learn one SA for each)
- Take and survive an A rank mission pertaining to your area of expertise (if you have two then you need to take two missions)
Jōnin The Jōnin or High Ninja are highly trained and highly skilled ninja. They have gained much insight into the shinobi world through their many missions, they have been known to be sent out on highly dangerous missions alone and have earned the right to become the leader of Genin teams. There are not many who travel up this far in the ninja world due to the general danger and even fewer who journey past this, but those that do gain legends of their own. Once you meet the requirement you are to meet with your village head who will give you a mission so dangerous that they themselves would have to handle it. Upon the mission if you prove yourself useful the village leader can promote you on the spot.
Requirements- 10 B rank missions
- 10 A rank missions
- Create your own jutsu or unique equipment
- If you became a Jōnin sensei have all your students pass then don't take new students
- Go on S rank mission with village leader and survive
- Be A rank in at least two specialties
Village Leader This is the final rank and the only thing that comes after this is death or retirement.
