Uchiha Keiko | ||||||||
| ||||||||
APPEARANCE HEIGHT 5'2 WEIGHT 103 lbs Keiko is that small-statured girl you may have seen once or twice, or caught her silhouette as you passed through the halls of Konohagakure Library. She is a cute girl, always with a smile on her face, a smile that sometimes looks cheerful, sometimes creepy. Her hair is auburn, and her eyes are red, as are those of many of the Uchiha clan, which she is a part of. Her frame is lithe, fragile even, not very fitting that of a shinobi warrior, and she looks like her place is among books, and not on the battlefield. The girl can be usually seen wearing a checkered red and white cape over a white Kimono, and a pair of sandals. This outfit rarelt changes, as it is her favorite. More often than not, Keiko can be seen with a notebook and a pen in hand, where she writes down things she deems important. She never lets the book out of her hands. Although it is not shown to anyone, but underneath her garments, along the ribs of her right side she has a rather gruesome, disfiguring scar, in shape of three torn stripes, which were left from the girl's encounter with a wild beast.
PERSONALITY "Why must we fight?" Keiko is often described as a quiet, book-worm kind of girl. That description is rather accurate - the girl likes to distance herself from the struggles and grievances of the harsh world by diving into many books, exploring events of the past, and imaginary worlds and places written on their pages. It is her favorite past-time too, so whenever she's not working or doing something that absolutely has to be done, Keiko reads. She is a rather docile creature, which would rather not be a shinobi, and live this life of conflict. The shinobi life is instead forced upon her by the virtue of being born an Uchiha. The girl trains to be one, but does so reluctantly, without any enthusiasm, as she dislikes the job and would rather be a librarian. She prefers to not harm anyone she is forced to fight, and would rather flee from confrontation. Keiko projects a mysterious demeanor about herself. Illusive and rarely seen when inside her library, she often talks in riddles, chimes and parables. Despite being solitary, she does feel lonely from time to time, and is no stranger to mischief. She plays tricks on lonely visitors to the library, using her genjutsus to subtly keep them inside for longer, finding it fun that they can't find their way out, before appearing and offering a hand. The girl is not by any means a brave soul. Keiko is fascinated by bravery, as it reminds her of the heroes of many novels, but has the heart of a rabbit, herself. She is easy to intimidate and scare, which is a great obstacle for her, as a shinobi. She hopes that this flaw of hers would be why she'd be dismissed from shinobi duty one day. Keiko's friends are very few, due to the nature of the life she leads. But she can be a very faithful friend, if one would bother befriending her. The girl won't be the one to stand in harm's way for her friends, but she would be the one to put them back together, after it is over. Unlike most of the Uchiha, the girl doesn't like the doctrine of Absolute Justice and Konoha above All. She believes that the source of all conflict in the world is because people put the needs of themselves, or their friends, or their village, above needs of other people, other villages, and call it a 'virtue'. She finds it very selfish. But, as she's just a young girl, and definitely not someone important, Keiko keeps quiet about her thoughts and beliefs.
HISTORY Keiko was born in the Uchiha clan, to Uchiha Reijiro and Uchiha Kiara. Her path, her fate was outlined the moment she had been conceived. As a descendant of a powerful branch of an even more powerful clan, the girl was meant to become a great and proud shinobi, a warrior to be respected and terrified of, on the battlefield... But, as the family would eventually find out, with Keiko it wouldn't be the case. She was never a very strong and healthy child. Keiko was often sick, weak and frail, requiring constant care and nurturing. Being the only child in her family, the first one too, there was much hope for her, and the girl just didn't seem like she was fit for the life prepared for her. Still, it didn't stop her parents, who have spent a lot of treatments, in order to make their dreams come true. Harsh and martial people, both Reijiro and Kiara have taken the education of their daughter upon themselves, introducing a strict regimen ever since Keiko was young. But as her health was still lacking, both training and outdoors were very limited. Instead, the girl stayed home, often surrounded by her family's vast library. Her passion for reading manifested then. At age 8 Keiko was signed into the Shinobi academy. It was not by her choice, for the girl didn't have any choice in this household. Of course, the girl had attempted a weak attempt at a protest, but it failed, for her parents were not to hear any of it. But the idea of being surrounded by a lot of rowdy kids was scaring the little girl. In the academy, Keiko was the quiet mouse, sitting in the back, not partaking much in activities of other children. She had made a couple of friends, among the 'outcasts' of the class. The lessons were hard, too. While the girl excelled in all things written, her bodily weakness prevented her from doing too well in all things physical. Teachers have noticed the girl's superb ability to meld chakra and perform complex academy jutsus with relative ease. However, Keiko didn't show much interest in learning ninjutsus either - they seemed too crude, too forceful to her. But genjutsus were alluring to her. They were specialties of her clan, after all. Subtle, complex, like magic from stories. After finishing the academy, she dived into learning them. But not for sake of using them as a weapon... But as art. Keiko's relations with parents were becoming colder at this point. They didn't see the desire to adhere to clan ideals and goals, in her, no drive to become a shinobi. In fact, the girl didn't admire the shinobi, unlike many of her peers. Nor did she express desire to hone her clan's dojutsu, their greatest weapon and treasure. Something needed to be done. And they did. It happened one day, after the young genin girl returned from her training. Her parents have lead her somewhere secluded, in order to 'show her something'. Keiko sensed trouble, but didn't disobey. In the secluded area of the forest, there was a cavern. And inside it, was a trapped tiger. It had been kept there for several days, angry and hungry. Keiko was scared of the beast, and asked why she was brought here. Father didn't answer. Instead, he put a hand on her shoulder, and pushed her down, into the cavern. That was the scariest thing Keiko had to live through. Trapped alone, in confined space, with a hungry and maddened beast. The creature attacked immediately. She managed to dodge the initial jump, and cried for help. But mother and father remained mute, silently watching her daughter struggle. Adrenaline mixed with sheer terror pumped into the girl's veins as she gazed the hungry beast in the eyes. And then, it happened. The pupils in her eyes began spinning, spawning one tomoe. She could see the beast ... clearer now. Its movements more predictable, slower even. It was the only thing that helped her survive. She dodged one tiger blow after another. But her body was frail, quickly tiring. At the end, she wasn't fast enough. Another blow of the tiger's claw had grazed her side, tearing into her skin, muscle and clothes. A dreadful, meaty sound of torn flesh... A scream of pain, a last gaze upwards, where her parents were... Keiko lost consciousness. She woke up at the hospital, with a lot of pain in her bandaged side. A surgeon was at her side. From him, Keiko heard the story. The incident had caused quite a scandal within the clan, and in the village. This was too harsh, even by Uchiha standards. Parents waited outside the door. They came to apologize. But they looked like they were forced to do so, by the circumstances. Keiko didn't feel any true remorse in their words. The girl distanced herself from her parents, since. In her mind, they have betrayed her trust, even if they saved her from the tiger, in the end. She became even more reclusive, avoiding her clan home, instead spending days within Konohagakure Library. She befriended the chief librarian there, and became her apprentice, of sorts, helping out around the library, and reading to her heart's content. But the heritage of her clan still looms over Keiko. She is a genin, after all, and a shinobi. The fate that has been decided for her, won't let go so easily. Reluctantly, the girl has to leave her shelter among books, in order to train to be a warrior. Even if she doesn't like it too much.
SPECIALIZATIONS: Kekkei Genkai | Hijutsu | Hiden Jutsu: Sharingan (1 tomoe) SKILL RANK:(E-A) SHARINGAN: Eye Of Insight Skill Rank: D SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Keiko has awakened her sharingan a couple of years ago, and has been using it ever since. This part of Sharingan's ability is an underused one, since she avoids active combat, where the ability to see fast-moving things, are needed. Still, she has no problem seeing even very fast projectiles and attacks being launched. However, the girl uses this one, mostly, to read books, very fast. Eye Of Hypnotism: Rank: C SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Due to Keiko's ardent interest in genjutsus, she has practiced the use of this one to a greater degree. A lot of genjutsus are cast through eye contact, and her sharingan only enhances the effects, making the illusion seem more 'real'. She requires only a split second of eye contact, in order to put her foes under genjutsu - Sharingan. NINJUTSU: SKILL RANK: E SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Though having been praised by her academy teachers to have a great affinity for ninjutsu, Keiko had always thought of them to be vulgar, and never bothered with progressing with them beyond what had been taught to her during her time in the Academy. She knows how to use only those, for now. TAIJUTSU: SKILL RANK: E SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Due to being a weak and frail girl, Keiko was never good in anything physical. She managed to pass the demands for physical aptitude during the genin exams, but barely. Right now, she's at the very bottom of mediocre in terms of taijutsu. BUKIJUTSU: SKILL RANK: E SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: For same reasons Keiko isn't good at taijutsu, her prowess in using ninja weapons are rather limited. She knows how to throw a kunai and a shuriken, and 1 time out of 3 or 4 she would actually manage to hit her mark. Provided said target is standing still. GENJUTSU: SKILL RANK: C SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Whatever Keiko lacks in mastery of other techniques, she makes up for with a rather deep and profound understanding of how genjutsu work. Remarked by her teachers to be among the most gifted genins in the field. She is able to create elaborate and complex illusions, and has been known for creating her own genjutsus, or altering those that were invented before her. She views her illusions and tricks as art. FUUINJUSTU: SKILL RANK: E SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Although her current level of knowledge of fuuinjutsu doesn't go beyond what has been taught in the academy, Keiko expresses great interest in learning more of these, and would dedicate her spare time into mastering the art of fuuinjutsu, in the future.
COMBAT INFORMATION NATURAL CHAKRA: Katon CHAKRA AFFINITIES: Katon ARCHETYPE: Sole Specialization (Genjutsu) SUMMONING CONTRACT: N/A INVENTORY 10 | Shuriken 5 | Smoke bomb 5 | Explosive tag 3 | Kunai 1 | Book & pen SPECIAL ABILITIES Enhanced chakra control Due to the nature of her genjutsus, and their complexity in comparison to more raw uses of chakra such as ninjutsus, Keiko has learned to apply her chakra in small doses, very precisely, and not an ounce more of what is required. Although her ability is not perfect, it is quite an improvement, considering how much chakra genins tend to waste. Ventriloquist This one stemmed from a hobby that she picked up, while staying in the Konohagakure library. In order to prank the visitors, Keiko casted her voice, in order to make it sound like it comes from another direction. She honed that ability, out of leasure, and now can make it sound like she's right behind you, while in reality she's in front of you. She can also mimic voices of people and birds rather well.
