JOMEI SAGIKIJI |
助命契生地 | Jomei Sagikiji [Clemency Vow-cloth] WEAPON TYPE: Supplementary RANK: A APPEARANCE: A jomei sagikiji [助命契生地, English TV: Repentance Cloth, lit. clemency vow-cloth], more commonly referred to as a kiji, is in simple terms a very long strip of dark gray cloth that splits into countless strands. A kiji is nothing by itself; however, when bound to a kuyakairi [悔刑人, English TV: Sinner seeking forgiveness, lit. repentant one], or kuri for short (having a derogatory connotation), it becomes both their most reliable weapon and most persistent reminder of their past transgressions. During the ritual of binding the kuyakairi's chakra is forcefully sealed into the kiji until the kuyakairi is near death, the chakra then stored within the fūinjutsu-shiki (formula) that makes up the cloth's very strands, creating the infamous artifact the kuyakairi are so well known for. It wraps around the kuyakairi from head to toe. If he/she wishes it, the cloth can cling tight to their body or billow about, slightly obscuring the wearer's form. It trails behind them as they walk, adjusts perfectly to support them as they move, and physically alters according to their whims to better fit its purpose. Some choose to have their kiji take on animalistic appearance similar to furs of animals of Kaminari no Kuni's mountains. ABILITIES: 生命繊維・結霊不朽 | Seimeisen'i: Yūreifukyū While this ability is the lesser of the two in regards to practicality in combat, it is by far the more heinous. Should a kuyakairi violate his/her oath to Kumogakure, or even if they intend to, their kiji will attempt to strangle them. It is the strength of the wearer's chakra that does this. Resistance may prolong the inevitable but in the end they will still die, too exhausted to resist their own chakra. Every kiji has two parts to its strength, both given to it by its' wearer: 1) the kiji's name, which bonds the cloth to its wearer's chakra, and 2) a mantra, exactly seven words, which intertwines the wearer's chakra signature within the cloth, becoming one entity permenantly. While the name of an individual's kiji may be known by multiple individuals, not counting the wearer, it is the mantra which an individual wearer keeps under lock and key at all costs.[Life Fibre: Bonded Soul Everlasting] Due to the nature of the mantra, a personification of the idea that words have more power than people often think, the danger of another knowing one's kiji mantra is severe. While completing a kiji's mantra fulfills its ultimate mission of ensuring loyalty, in which it will do its work and strangle the wearer to death then and there, not completing the mantra has perhaps an equal, if not even more heinous, result. Since the mantra a wearer chooses for their kiji is a verbal representation of their nindō (lit. ninja way; way of life), not completing the spoken mantra has effects synonymous to not fulfilling their nindō. In short, the fewer words of the mantra spoken, the greater pain a kuyakairi will endure, manifesting as their kiji inflicting pain in various ways. This includes, but is not limited to: fracturing, breaking and even shattering bone (extreme cases) by excessive physical force (forming fist(s)); disolocating joints via stretching of extremities; suffocation; friction burns; dehydration via completely wrapping up in the cloth; and even minor to severe puncture wounds (forming into sharpened razors). There is a way in which one can remove a kiji's hold on its wearer. The Shogun, after being told the mantra of one's kiji, will proceed by first saying: "Kiji of (wearer's name), I absolve you of all your duties." As the Shogun then proceeds to utter a kuyakairi's mantra, he will channel his chakra into the kiji, effectively destroying the chakra which originally animated the cloth. At this point the kiji is no more than a durable length of cloth which may be manipulated with the wearer's chakra. At the same time a kuyakairi cannot live without their kiji. Should the wearer remove him/herself from their kiji for more than an hour, he/she will fall into violent seizures that will end only when their kiji is once more touching them or they are dead. It should be noted that a wearer cannot outwit their own kiji, as by sharing parts of the same soul, the two effectively share the same mind as well. It should be noted, however, that the kiji are in no way sentient, merely brought to life by the fūinjutsu formulas along the cloth's entire length. 布操縦 | Nunosōjū Being a highly chakra-reactive material, effectively possessing chakra equal to the user's own chakra pool, the weaer is able to weaponize their kiji for various purposes. It should be noted, however, that whilst the kiji holds a very large amount of the user's chakra, this is solely to allow it to synchronize with the wearer's chakra signature and cannot be drawn upon as a "chakra battery." A kiji may not be cut by mundane means such as kunai, senbon or shuriken, though blunt impacts are not lessened. It may be burned or torn, but regenerates itself completely in a matter of minutes. The kiji is by far more durable and resilient than the shinobi themselves. This is because the kiji is alive in a subtle way, imbued with a shard of it's wearer. [Cloth Manipulation] Passively, the wearer can't do much more with their kiji than command the cloth to cling tight to their body or billow about, slightly obscuring the wearer's form. It trails behind them as they walk, adjusts perfectly to support them as they move, and physically alters according to their whims to better fit its purpose. However, by channeling chakra into the chakra-rich cloth and utilizing various jutsu, the wearer may weaponize their kiji, creating shields, blades, and even crude limbs, to name just a few examples. It should also be noted that while latent with the wearer's chakra, the kiji's range is still limited to no greater than 5m. OOC NOTE: As of right now, there is currently no one within GUNBU who possesses knowledge of another's kiji mantra. This is highly due to the death of Yokoshima Kurahama, the 1st Raikage, being the only other individual to know the mantras of individual members. The only current exception to this is Sukesade Tomo (IB's kumo wanderer), whose mantra was divulged to Ūdemikōshi Mikijōnara, the now 2nd Raikage, in order to Tomo for be released from servitude. Due to this stipulation, while Tomo still possesses his kiji, Tomo is no longer in danger of his mantra being used against him. |
