得腕美厚肉一族 Ūdemikōshi Ichizoku [Armstrong Clan] | VILLAGE: Kumogakure no Sato [Hidden Cloud Village] ORIGIN: Kokoroyama, Kaminari no Kuni [Heart Mountain, Land of Lightning] CLAN HISTORY:The Ūdemikōshi were a fairly simple folk living on Heart Mountain, in particular making their homes by the many hot springs and mud baths. As with many who lived during the formation wars, the Ūdemikōshi struggled to find somewhere they could simply settle down without being dragged into combat. After extensive traveling the clan, then just a large family of healers, found the numerous hot springs and mud baths that dotted the mountain's surface held incredible healing properties. So the Ūdemikōshi began their slow transition to living life on an active volcano. Needless to say, the family became accustomed to relocating around the mountain as the volcano activity waxed and wanned.
Despite this the Ūdemikōshi remained on the mountain, unperturbed by the ever changing landscape. For a reason many could not explain, the hot springs and mud baths seemed to never be upset, always remaining undisturbed as when they had been left. It was for this reason that some of the elders took the first big leap of faith and fully submerged themselves in the springs. When the elders emerged the result was astounding: not only did any injuries they had acquired seemed to have all but vanished, but their skin radiated in the sun as if they were living soap bubbles. Thus began the Ūdemikōshi discovering what would later become their clan's hidenjutsu, which they aptly named "bubblebath celebration."
The elders and the parents of the clan began to experiment, slowly injecting themselves with the mysterious chakra-rich hot spring water and enveloping themselves in mud baths. Initially nothing happened beyond the unexplained healing, leaving many to start becoming dubious of the elders plan. As a clan of healers, just as many defended the elders, claiming their healing methods had developed of hundreds of years and to expect instantaneous results in a foreign land was foolish. The treatments continued and yet no further progress was made; the next-in-line began to feel disheartened but the elders did not give up. If their clan had stumbled upon Heart Mountain and its life-restoring mud baths and hot springs, there had to be a reason.
Weeks and months passed, and still the elders were unsuccessful; then, as is the nature of chakra, things began to change. During a healing session, one of the elders healing chakra seemed to noticeably mutate and change as it interacted with her patient. It was not the healer who noticed the change initially, but a young child whom excitedly exclaimed the healer seemed to creating bubbles from her body. Upon closer expection, the woman's patient was enveloped in what could have only been described as a protecctive orb made up of numerous thousands of small bubbles, all the while the young man seemed wholly at peace. The elderly woman, known simply as Terisa, and whom would later become known as the pioneer and first practioner of the clan's hidenjutsu,
Having determined the effects of introducing the hot spring's revitalizing chakra into the system was not at all harmful, on the contrary, allowing Terisa to expel and create at will bubbles made of condensed spring water, the "Grand Bubblebath Celebration" began. Initially, the other elders went through the process first, followed by their children. Slowly but slowly, after submerging one self in the hot springs and mud baths every day for weeks and months, the rest began to show physical changes as well. Finally the children were subjected to the change; this was the longest change, and by far the most monitored, as no one was sure how such young bodies would fair. While the children showed remarkable signs of vitality and growth after exposure, the change never happened directly.
Thus the final preparations began; after lengthy and close inspection, Terisa along with the remaining elders, discovered that the source of the chakra soup came from an individual's pores, which had been physically altered. The children's pores however seemed to appear unchanged, and so the elders began a lengthy processing of cultivating special "soap sweat glands," and replacing each pore with these sebum-producing glands. The process was tedious, but after many years, every the youth were finally a part of the "Bubblebath Celebration." And so the Ūdemikōshi were officially born. It was for their immense knowledge of healing and their hidenjutsu that Yokoshima Kurahama, the defacto leader of what would later become the capital of the Land of lightning, came to the clan for their loyalty. Ūdemikōshi Raiden, the head of the clan, agreed only on the terms his clan would serve only as healers and never fightiers; naturally, Kurahama seeing the immense physique of the clan, refused, saying the clan would fight if they had to. Again Raiden stood his ground, unwilling to be swayed by Kurahama's scare tactics. To this day, the Ūdemikōshi are considered to be one of the greater of the seven founding clans, and continue to serve the Hidden Cloud Village, providing some of the village's best healers hands down.
CLAN IDEOLOGY:"Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination: never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." As a whole members of the Ūdemikōshi clan are often described as incredibly reckless and childlishly carefree, adopting a you-only-live-once attitude towards life. A clan whose history is steeped in war, the survival of the Ūdemikōshi is heavily accredited to the challenging times that were faced, and continuing to better themselves and get stronger despite the poor conditions.. That is to say, the clan's proliferation and success as a whole stemms from the very war that brought its members together, and in turn ultimately helped found Kumogakure no Sato. While it is no secret that the Ūdemikōshi's training regiment is intense, beginning at the very young ripe age of three, they are not abusive to their youth. On the contrary, the clan's respect as a whole for even their youngest, most rookie members, and belief that anyone in the clan can achieve greatest with a bit of hard work, passion paired with a dedicated and compassionate teacher is what truly gives the clan it's zeal.
CLAN ABILITIES: -- [ 泡場記念 // awajōkinen // bubblebath celebration] [hidenjutsu concept original credit // thechariotarcana]
Perhaps one of the numerous hidenjutsu in the recent ninja world, the Ūdemikōshi possess a unique and equally powerful tradition. After the eighth day of a clan member's birth, the child is taken into sanctuary and an extensive, complex surgery takes place; during this time the parents (or oldest living relative) will provide their chakra for the surgery, as this will ensure the greatest degree of success. During this 19-hour long procedure, the sweat glands within each individual pore are surgically removed and replaced with an identical genetic replica. What makes these artificial glands different from the natural-born cousins are the oils produced; while a normal human's sweat glands produce sweat, a combination of water, minerals (specifically sodium and chlorine [salt]), lactic acid and urea, the new glands instead produce high amounts of sebum, a highly waxy fatty acid. Due to the clan member now unable to naturally sweat, the child is taught the art and concept of the Water Release, as it aligns with their natural biology; while not every clan member will choose to pursue the clan hidenjutsu, those who do take the Water Release as their first element, being the easiest for them to learn and control.
Naturally, because clan members are unable to naturally sweat initially, training begins very young, starting at age three [3]. This training is specifically to teach a new clan member how to access the very basics of their hidenjutsu, in this case, being able to sweat and cool themselves off, and is paramount to one's survival. Not taking part in said training is without question. Once this elementary principle has been mastered, the clan member can now proceed to start learning the rest of the clan's serious techniques. The primary capability the clan's hidenjutsu grants is the ability to create and control soap, foam and bubbles; this is done by overstimulating the user's new "soap glands," as well as even spewing soap from one's mouth. This allows for clan members to use soap and bubble-based ninjutsu.
Similar to normal bubbles, albeit more concentrated, when a clan member's soap washes over a surface any dirt or grime is remove, as well as temporarily giving said surface a slippery and shiny appearance. Should a clan member's soap strike a target, said target will experience similar effects depending on the area covered, potentially preventing one from being able to maintain a grasp on things or even prevent them from being able to stand without slipping about and falling. Perhaps the more interesting property of the clan's soap is its ability to "wash away an opponent's strength;" this is not literal and does not drain one's chakra, instead referring moreso to the relaxing properties of a clan member's soap. Stemming from a clan member's Water Release chakra affinity, an Ūdemikōshi's soap acts to amplify the calming properties of normal water by relaxing and loosening muscle fibers. This is achieved due to a clan member's ability to heat the Water Release chakra used to produce the soap from their soap-sweat glands, causing the soap and bubbles produced to always have a lukewarm temperature. This unique property of the Ūdemikōshi's hidenjutsu is also a double-edged sword, as warm water has a natural higher conductivity, ergo making clan members more susceptible to damage from opposing Lightning Release techniques while using their hidenjutsu.
In regards to offensive capabilities, clan members are able to form constructs of multiple variations from solid soap, as well as bubbles, despite the substance's obvious lack of density compared to other materials. If one were to make a shield of solid soap, it would provide highly resistant to fire-based attacks as long as it remained hydrated; however, water will cause the soap/bubbles to quickly break down and dissolve. All Ūdemikōshi possess the ability to use any Water Release technique in their arsenal in conjunction with their hidenjutsu, albeit slightly weakened due to the nature of the clan's soap.
While not necessarily the most effective in the heat of battle, an Ūdemikōshi can use their soap as a means of restorative healing (revitalizing one's stamina and relieving pain and [mental] fatigue, as opposed to biological healing). While this method is not nearly as spontaneous as the Healing Hands Technique, it can prove highly effective if given time; after an half-hour long soak in the chakra-enhanced waters and bubbles of an Ūdemikōshi, even the most fatigued and psychologically damaged person will leave feeling some sort of happiness and relaxation. In battle, this method can be directly applied in a similar vein to the Healing Hands Technique, albeit acting more like a soldier pill of sorts; it should be noted, however, only those who have specialized in ninjutsu and are at least the rank of Tokubetsu Jōnin may pursue these training methods and techniques.
[遺伝的い生命力 // identekī seimeiriki // genetic vitality]
Perhaps more well known for their physicality than the clan's Hidenjutsu, the Ūdemikōshi possess what some refer to simply as perfect genetics. While not a given, it is common for children born in the clan to inherit great physical genes, giving birth to a clan of muscle-bound giants and acrobats. It should be noted, however, that while many are naturally born exceptionally tall or muscular, equally as many are born average. Simply put, all clan members possess the potential for exemplary physical conditioning. As such, even those who display less-than-suitable frames for combat can reach peak performance through conditioning, and by doing so unlocking the individual's latent physical potential. It should be noted that females are just as inherently susceptible to the physical aptitude as males.
CLAN HIERARCHY:When it comes to hierarchy, the Ūdemikōshi are fairly simple. The eldest child of each family or household vies for the clan's head position in a competition of physical prowess, ranging from endurance, strength, stamina, good sportsmanship, perseverance, attitude and teamwork. Should the eldest be ineligible, the next oldest will take the position and so on. Should all children in a family be unable to participate (or a household bear no children), the man or woman of the house may choose to compete, though this is usually frowned upon.
Once a leader is choosen, that leader remains in position until someone challenges said leader. To prevent a leader being usurped before he/she has a chance to actually lead and make a name for him/herself, a three-year grace period is provided. After this point, the leader may be challenged, done so in the same competition young heirs compete in. It should be noted that in the clan's history, a clan leader being forcefully removed from the position has never occured. MEMBERS:Clan Leader - Ūdemikōshi Mikijōnara (interrim; cannot hold position officially due to lack of knowledge in the clan's hijutsu, but given a by as Raiden's adopted son. In this case of someone challenging Miki, a true challenge would not be legitimately required, but still acceptable means too determine a new leader.)
