| CLAN TYPE: Hijutsu VILLAGE: Kirigakure no Sato ORIGIN: Hi no Kuni CLAN HISTORY: -- The history of the clan begins with a sect of alchemists who existed prior to the invention of Ninshū. They were in search of the infamous Philosopher's Stone to use as a conduit for the creation of the perfect being. The transmutation of "lead into gold"; the chasing after the key to immortality.
This sect eventually gained the Heizento name (Heizento meaning "with composure", or "those with composure") in the post-ninshū, post-Hagoromo world for their way of living; and after generations, the mating amongst members eventually produced a well-knit family that was trusted to head the group above the other members, which gave birth to the Heizento clan in further generations following. This "ruling family" eventually became known for three things, amongst the rest of the sect: their hijutsu, their summons, and the unnatural degree of expertise with which they fought alongside the creatures. By way of these traits, the Rulers were responsible for protecting the sect, which later lead to issues of corruption.
Having integrated chakra into this search for the ultimate being, the clan developed various methods of experimentation in order to further themselves on the path of perfection. Likewise, the Heizento were always quick to welcome non-clan members into their ranks, especially those rejects who had access to Hijutsu and Kekkei Genkai. It was this very "combination of elements" that the Heizento thought necessary to propel mankind above its limitations, and also the source of their “Kekkei Genkai”. However, it was ultimately the first step towards their near destruction.
After the rise of a Heizento who dubbed himself "Kami", the already frowned upon Heizento clan became hated within Hi no Kuni for its gruesome tactics, as Kami used the clan as a tool to steal and obtain the secrets of other clans. Under his rule, the clan's original views became perverted, and its members turned their sights on power and might rather than their ancestors' alchemical plight to purify the human race of its taint. At the height of this greed was Kami himself, whose power became so great that he was given the moniker Shinobi no Kami for his omnipotence (omnipotence, in this case, referring to the varied powers that he acquired through experimentation and his command over them). He used that power to overthrow the royal family, establishing a dictatorship that, by virtue of further modifications to slow his aging, lasted for about two-hundred fifty years. Many people attempted to overthrow him during that time, but the revolts were either too external or too internal; meaning that if the Heizento themselves rose, the other clans were apathetic, and that if the other clans rose, the Heizento were apathetic. It was only once a Heizento named Kyūseishu rose up with the backing of other clan leaders that Kami was overthrown. However, the condition for such an alliance was that Kyūseishu lead his clan out of Hi no Kuni. Thus began a long journey through many lands and many centuries until the Heizento found a home in the Land of Water.
By the time they arrived in Mizu no Kuni, the Heizento were not only reformed, but they had a new royal family that descended from Heizento Kyūseishu. Once in the land, they settled a territory that very quickly became famous for the beauty of the clan's farming and gardening practices, as they cultivated the land not only for their own nutrition, but also for the beauty and longevity of the soil. Moreover, the clan itself became recognized for its diplomacy, its "just-war" policy, and its Unitarian attitude toward its neighbors. As in their ancient past, the Heizento became, over time, a sort of safe haven for the rejected and "useless" members of other clans, which greatly increased their population. However, they also continued the studying of the abilities of other clans, but only where ethical, usually receiving the means of their studies from those that they adopted.
A great contributor to this change in culture was the fact that, through Kyūseishu, the remnant of the former ruling family began to mate with the "general" Heizento, thus sharing their genetics and secrets with the rest of the clan. A new perspective was born during that time, as the royalty became the peasantry and the peasantry became the royalty: "Symbiosis is the secret to power; altruism is the secret to existence.'
At the advent of the great villages, the Heizento clan was one of the major clans of Mizu no Kuni, such that their clan leader was an important ally to the village’s founding Kage in convincing the other clans to join. Since then, the clan has lived in great dedication to the ideal of the village, but has greater plans as well.
A somewhat trivial fact, many Heizento have used their knowledge of sugar in the culinary arts to create businesses across the shinobi world. Because of this, Kirigakure has a great sum of wealth that it receives from the clan due to how readily and abundantly the clan provides taxes. CLAN IDEOLOGY: -- The Heizento philosophy has alchemical roots, stretching back to the days before Hagoromo, but later assimilated the teachings of Ninshū to become what it is today. It is a vision of the university of mankind — unity in diversity — underneath the will and authority of God, or Kami-sama, or The Singularity/The Reality, or however any given Heizento understands the divine. Best symbolized by their clan symbol (in which the inherent disaster of life [the central writing] as is caused by man [the aimless and unidentified creature that loops for eternity] is put to rest once all things are brought into completion [the outer circle] by the divine), the Heizento understand that such a vision can only come true once man rejects himself in order to become conformed towards the uncorrupted reality that was meant for him. Their primary goal, then, is to serve as an example to the other clans, which drives their symbiotic and altruistic nature.
Most Heizento observe the characteristic teachings of the elders, or "the ancients", the long-dead founders of the clan whose roots rest in forgotten times. Among these are two of the most essential teachings: "To will the good of the other for the sake of other," says the elders, "is what is means to love"; "Test life to see, when all else fails, these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." There is also the idea that descended through Kyūseishu: "Symbiosis is the secret to power; altruism is the secret to existence." CLAN ABILITIES: -- [Chameleon Contract]: In the past, the Heizento forged a contract of partnership with a particular group of chameleons who were notorious for their elusiveness, and thus sought after for their competence in the realm of espionage. Since then, it has become tradition for each member of the clan to be gifted with at least one personal summon with whom they share a lifelong bond.
Through the "Doppelganger-Camouflage Secret Technique" of the Chameleons, the personal summon(s) assimilate the chakra of their human counterparts (a process that begins and ends in infancy, for the human, and youth, for the chameleons); and as the human and chameleon(s) grow together, the chameleon's chakra becomes a "camouflage" of their human's, establishing a synchronized connection between them as the chameleon becomes a type of doppelganger, effectively gaining access to the hijutsu of the clan. This makes the chakra of the chameleon into a perfect match with the chakra of their human, causing any combination techniques performed by the pair or group to be considerably more powerful than what would normally be possible, even for collaborations. The connection also grants a telepathic bond between the partners.
[Sugar Matrix:] The Heizento have developed, over time, the ability to weaponize sugar. Usage of the hijutsu requires the Heizento to consume massive amounts of sugar at a time, turning their bodies into "sugar factories", and the more sugar that they eat, the more sugar that they can produce, retain, and manufacture for various uses through ninjutsu. Because of this trait, the Heizento are known to be human batteries, wellsprings of raw energy who require strict discipline to contain their impulses.
Naturally their bodies have developed a hyperactive metabolism designed to metabolize sugar without experiencing the harm that a typical human would; however, their anatomy subsequently requires that they eat sugar in large amounts—either directly from sugar-based products or indirectly through food and the blood of living beings—in order to sustain properly sustain themseleves, where intake from living beings and food requires great quantities to be as efficient as a peppermint. When healthy, a Heizento is a characteristically high-energy being who possesses an abnormally fast heart beat. However, when unhealthy in respect to inadequate sugar intake, they become increasingly low-energy, to the point where they become worse than sloths at their worst, unable to defend themselves in any way, shape, or form. As a precaution against this, the body has a severe predatory instinct that grows stronger and stronger as the health of the clan memeber fails, until the said clan member descends into feral madness. To prevent this, they must consume sugarevery hour. Given that they reach the energy level of a normal human being if they experience twenty-four straight hours of starvation, full madness begins at the eighth-hour point.
Clan members must also be mindful of their sugar intake, however. For them, sugar is euphoric, triggering some of the same hormonal responses that drugs and relationships do. If the clan member eats too much, they could very easily enter a state of "sugar high", where they lose sense of self for the thrill of the hunt for sugar. This taps into their predatory instinct, and they usually devour the bodies of humans and animals in order to prolong their high.
In terms of combat, the hijutsu benefits the Heizento in many ways. For one, the abundance of energy allows them to fight for hours and hours and hours at a time. However, they still feel the strain and fatigue of prolonged battle, and not all Heizento will possess the fortitude necessary to keep pushing for as long as they possibly can. Taijutsu specialists from the clan, however, are known to be the most troublesome kind of hand-to-hand combatant, as they almost never use chakra and train their minds to match their body’s energy levels, and therefore have herculean levels of stamina, able to fight or train for days on end usually.
As well, because sugar can be manufactured into many different forms, the hijutsu grants ninjutsu users the versatility necessary to combat virtually any elemental release, as each form of sugar ninjutsu has its own strengths and weaknesses against each element. Moreover, the crystalline structure grants certain sugar ninjutsu an infectious quality, allowing them to spread across surfaces and objects, infecting them and transforming them into sugar (in the case of inanimate objects) or simply encapsulating them (in the case of organic material); this allows the sugar ninjutsu to operate as a great tool for trapping and capturing.
The sugar ninjutsu can also be used for auxiliary purposes. If there is a body of sugar present in any form, members of the clan can assimilate into it for high-speed travel and/or espionage. Moreover, if damaged, clan members can repair themselves by devouring sugar of any form. They can also transform their bodies into various forms of sugar, turning themselves into living weapons. Likewise, there is also a more obscure form of sugar ninjutsu that is employed by some, particularly by those of the Heizento's special ops unit, Deus Ex Machina, that uses the sugar within the body as a power source for their machinery, thus turning the body into a living battery.
There are also two, more unique expressions of the hijutsu. One is genetic, causing some members of the clan to have genetic structures so adapted to sugar that they are actually born with partially sugar-based forms (as opposed to being wholly carbon-based). In the second expression, some Heizento are able to combine the raw mechanical energy produced by their bodies with their chakra to embolden their techniques—a practice usually used by those who desire to avoid the classical version of the hijutsu, as mastering the classical version of the hijutsu beyond its most basic levels requires one to forego advanced elemental ninjutsu (meaning elemental ninjutsu beyond the point of basic chakra flow).
In terms of their research and experimentation, the hijutsu also makes the bodies of clan members much more receptive to modification.
Techniques that utilize the classical version of the hijutsu are specifically named after their physical appearance, where universal techniques are given appropriate unobscure labels and personal techniques are given more leeway. For example, Crystal Dragon would be a universal technique where sugar is shaped into the form of a hard-candy dragon, falling under the "infectious and invasive Crystal" category of techniques. Likewise, Gum Dragon would be a universal technique that shapes sugar into the form of a bubblegum dragon, falling under the "sticky and chakra suppressing Gum" form of techniques. On the other hand, Amai uses Gum ninjutsu under his "sticky and elastic Bungee" personal category, whereas his mother was well-known for her "exploding and poisonous Rock" form of personal Crystal ninjutsu.
Originally developed by studying the nature of their chameleon's color-changing ability, the introductory technique to the hijutsu is still, to this day, learning a variant of the Transformation Technique that combines the manipulation of sugar crystals within the body change the pigmentation of the skin in combination with illusory texture manipulations to the body to blend in with the surrounding environment. ] CLAN HIERARCHY: -- The Heizento are not ruled by a central authority. Though they have a King, he is only a symbol of unity for the families that have scattered throughout Kirigakure, symbolizing the clan's philosophy of God as that essential bonding agent that holds men together and establishes peace. Essentially, the Heizento have one leader, and that is the leader of the village. They live within Kirigakure no Sato as kin to their village men, and their compound is merely a meeting place for formal discussions, and a housing place for the treasury. When it comes to meetings with the leader of the village or other clan leaders, it is the responsibility of the King to act as an ambassador for his people, essentially acting as the Collective Man.
That being said, if a King also becomes the leader of the village, their position as King is given over to the next-in-line, who serves as 'Crown King' until they pass the title of village leader onto another. When the former King retires from his position as leader of the village, he does not regain his position unless the "Crown King" becomes the village leader after him. Thus, peace is maintained, among the ranks. royal branch MEMBERS

as it was unclear from how its written does this clan exhibit any of these abilities as passive or do they all need jutsu to use (except of course the high energy which of course is passive)

The passive abilities are those that deal with how their bodies have adapted to large sugar intake, such as the abundance of energy, their metabolisms, etc.
Those are the only abilities. Everything else is giving an outline of how the sugar-based ninjutsu can be manifested in the form of techniques. But I can remove that if it's too much text?

it is a lot of text but I like having concrete examples so I have no issue with it 1/2
