APPEARANCE HEIGHT 5'10 WEIGHT 160 lbs Ijino is a tall, strong woman. She cuts an intimidating silhouette with her buzzcut hair, lean wiry figure, and usual serious look on her face. She's lived a hard life and she looks like it. She has dark brown eyes, a thin and long face, but with fuller lips and defined cheekbones. She usually has dark black ash covering the top half of her face that she uses to protect her skin against the sun, but also to protect her eyes from the sun's harsh rays. On the back of her neck is a brand that she had burned into her skin, in the shape of the Yoseikei clan symbol. When it comes to the clothing Ijino wears, she wears lighter, more neutral colours, to keep as cool as possible in the sun but also to camouflage with the brown tones of the surrounding desert environment. On her feet she wears lightweight calf-height boots that go over top of her loose fitting dark brown pants. Over her left shoulder she wears a piece of armour to guard her one weak spot resulting from a severe shoulder injury she suffered when she was little. This piece of armour is held on with strong, brown leather straps that wrap around her left arm and across her torso. On the days in Sunagakure where a sandstorm has kicked up, Ijino can be seen wearing a pair of round clear-lensed goggles and a large black scarf that she pulls up over her nose and mouth to protect them from the sand. When Ijino is carrying her weapons she keeps them in sheaths that are attached on the outside of each of her calves. | ||||||||
PERSONALITY NINDO My Village. My Country. My Life. Ijino is viewed most of the time as a very intense woman, her intimidating appearance adding to her perceived personality. Though this perception is not unfounded as she can be very intense in her loyalty towards her village of Sunagakure, and as seen by her actions taken in the past, her loyalty to her village and country can sometimes take priority over loyalty to anyone or anything else. Another part of her personality that is tightly interwoven with her devotion to her village is her honesty. It was because of her sense of honesty and loyalty that she went against her clan leader to save her village from corruption. She always tries to be honest when she can be, though she's not harsh about it, she tries to be as amiable as necessary when delivering criticism to her subordinates or close relations. Because of this conscious decision on her part, she is well respected and liked. Though her honesty can still sometimes get her into trouble despite how nice she tries to put it, and of course if she's upset, her attempts to be nice fly out the window. Ijino was always a woman with a strong will and sense of determination when it came to anything she put her mind to, whether it was training when she was younger to become a better fighter for the wars that were constant whether it for be for one purpose or another. If she thinks the cause valid and good, she will put her everything behind it to help ensure that it succeeds. Though, Ijino has one glaring trait that helps show the people of Sunagakure that she is indeed just a normal person like the rest of them, is her particular skill when it comes to cursing and swearing. Her filter is not very good, and she often swears in normal conversation, some people who don't know her usually view this trait of hers as a signifier for being an angry person but that assumption couldn't be more false. Her love of curse words is simply a way for her to vent stress, and to show excitement. Most people who know her know it is just an innocent bad habit, though it does also get her in trouble from time to time. | ||||||||
HISTORY It was a dark moonless night when Ijino was born to her mother Ichiko and her father Junji. It was 3AM when she was born and she didn't come easy. She caused her mother great stress and pain as it Ichiko was in labour for 30 hours before Ijino finally came into the world. Ijino was a precocious and energetic child. She kept her parents busy as they constantly had to chase her around and make sure she hadn't wandered off into the vast sea of dunes that surrounded the remote oasis where her and her clan lived. Her childhood was fairly carefree, she ran around playing and swimming in the nearby pools with her cousins and the other children that lived close by, as well as training in the Yoseikei clan's special techniques. Though, her childhood would be cut short when she was 10 years old and the War of the Five Shadows began. Ijino's father Junji was sent off to fight while her mother stayed behind to raise Ijino and to train her further in combat. It was her mother that turned her onto the use of tessen fans to fight with. Ijino liked the ere of grace that came with their use, and the fact that they also doubled as fighting knives worked well. Her mother trained her to be quick and strong, to keep focus on her goals, and Ichiko also tried to instill the virtues of an honourable shinobi into Ijino. Though the qualities usually seen in a leader came naturally to Ijino anyways. She was always the ringleader when playing with her friends, and the younger children always seemed to look up to her. The War of the Five Shadows went on for 5 years before Ijino was able to participate as a member of the Kaze no Kuni forces against the Juubi. In those 5 years since her father Junji had been sent off to fight, and she had never known what had happened to him, but after joining the shinobi forces she soon found out that her father was a high ranking shinobi that stood guard over the Kazekage, and it was because of his position that he was never spoken about. Ijino took great pride in knowing how successful her father had been and it made her strive to do her father and her country proud. During those 5 years while Ijino trained she focused in her use of her family's Kekkei Genkai, shakuton. She also focused on her skill with her tessen fans. She trained and learned how to use both katon and fuuton jutsu, the two elements that are the base of shakuton. She also learned to make her own tessen fans, that she made with chakra reactive metal that allowed her to cast her jutsu through the fans, or to use them as fighting knives, exactly like the tessen fans she first learned with. Ijino started off as a regular grunt in the shinobi forces, but quickly rose through the ranks because of her skill in shakuton and her ability to lead her peers. By the time the war was coming to a close 2 years later, Ijino was 17 and had found herself a Captain of a ninjutsu squad. She earned this position so quickly because of one particular mission her and her squad were sent on. This mission was a standard one, find the juubi clone and kill it. The mission had been going well at first with her various ninjutsu users attacking the clone with wave after wave of techniques. Though, after a few hours, and when the majority were good and tired as well as running low in their chakra reserves the Juubi clone swept its right hand through the crowd of shinobi, grabbing and crushing as many shinobi as would fit in his handful. Ijino was mere inches away from dying herself but instead of grabbing her body, the juubi had grabbed a handful of her long thick black hair that had been pulled into a high ponytail. She was hanging hundreds of feet in the air by only her hair and the pain was incredible but her survival instincts kicked in and she reached for one of her fans that was in her calf holster and proceeded to cut her hair with the sharp blade of the fan above where the hair was gathered into the ponytail. She fell and fell for what seemed forever and landed square on her back/shoulder, shattering her collar bone and shoulder joint. Despite the serious injuries from her fall, Ijino rallied the remaining shinobi under her command and led them in a last ditch effort to destroy the clone, and she combined her trump card A rank Shakuton technique with that of other katon and fuuton users to evaporate, blow up and blow away the clone simultaneously. After this battle, Ijino was sent back to the Kaze no Kuni shinobi hospital to have her shoulder repaired. It was during this time and her recover that the final battle against the Juubi took place, and she was devastated to learn that the Kazekage as well as the rest of the Gokage had all perished in the battle, as well as her father. This was a hard emotional blow to take as she looked up very much to her father. It took 3 months for Ijino to fully heal, though she now always wore a big shoulder pad of armour on her left shoulder to protect it from any superficial injuries as it was always never going to be at 100% again. In the years following the final battle of the Juubi, Kaze no Kuni saw a time of peace and unity. Though the former Yoseikei Clan leader had retired from her position, because of her good showing Ijino found herself being put forward as a candidate to become the next clan leader, though she thought herself too young for the position at the time. She was relieved when she didn't get the position and it went to the older member of the clan who had been the Kazekage's second in command, Aoi. Though Aoi would prove later to be the one thing that almost led the the downfall of the Yoseikei Clan. After that, Ijino threw herself into helping her country come together. It took a further 3 years before the Village of Sunagakure was founded and became the central hub of all civilization in Kaze no Kuni. It took so long because of the constant battling that was taking place in Kaze no Kuni between two of the bijuu that had been created as a result of the end of the War of the Five Shadows. It was another year until the shinobi system that would change the shape of civilization would be put into place in their country. Ijino was 24 when the shinobi system was put into place, and following the evaluation of her skills she was given the rank of Jounin. It is also because of the bijuu that Sunagakure took so long to find their Nidaime Kazekage. There were several candidates for the position but because of the constant fighting the village was either too busy trying to keep the bijuu at bay, or the Kage candidates would end up dying in the process of trying to keep the village out of the destructive path of the two enormous creatures battling within their country. Though despite this, Ijino was living a fairly happy life. Her clan was prospering in Sunagakure as her Clan Leader had been appointed as the Jounin Hanchou of the village, something that had brought great pride to the clan. Though that pride would soon be snuffed out by the plan of Aoi's that Ijino discovered. Ijino was 26 when she realized her clan leader and jounin hanchou had been covertly assassinating the current candidates to become Kazekage. She had heard reports of the candidates going missing, and she didn't have any suspicions until some of her clan members had come to her with some concerning stories regarding Aoi. Apparently, Aoi turned rogue during her time as the clan leader, abusing what power she did have. She had openly supported the man who was the front runner to become the Nidaime Kazekage, a powerful man by the name of Miyawaki Taro, but she quickly turned her back on him. She quickly developed the notion that she should be the Kazekage and that she needed to kill the candidates for Kazekage. Aoi then tried to recruit her clan members to help, but they did not. Though that did not stop Aoi from assassinating the Kazekage candidates one by one. Once Ijino had heard these accusations, she immediately went to warn the clan elders of Aoi's actions, but the elders were resistant and did not believe Ijino, believing Aoi to be the level headed woman she was during the war. Ijino was still suspicious of Aoi, and had taken to tracking her moves, and she also warned the village council members of Aoi's notions, but she was ignored then as well. Unfortunately, the non-action would lead to the worst event to take place in Kaze no Kuni history. The assassinations of the Kazekage candidates by Yoseikei Aoi. Because Ijino had formed the habit of following Aoi, she was present for the final assassination, but unfortunately wasn't able to save either the Miyawaki Taro, or her clan mate. Aoi had released a shakuton technique that had never been seen before, one that she had been working on in secret, and the effect of the jutsu was so huge, that it killed both her and the potential Kage, and leaving Ijino badly injured, burning all of her hair off and leaving burns over her arms, as she used her skills to contain the jutsu so it didn't spiral out of control and engulf the half of the village. After this took place, the village elders and council members took a long time deciding what was to be done with the Yoseikei clan because of their leader's actions. It took 2 months before they came out with their decision to pardon the Yoseikei clan of the previous leader's actions, and not holding the clan responsible for one members actions, but only because of the actions of Ijino, and the warnings she had tried to give, but had fallen upon deaf ears. It was also because at this they surprised everyone in the village, including Ijino herself by asking her to be the next person to take up the position of Kazekage. They felt that she had shown that she would do anything for the village and its people, and that she had also shown her great power and skills by controlling her clan mates jutsu and saving the village. Ijino accepted the position, and it was because of this the members of the Yoseikei Clan felt that she was the obvious choice for the next Clan leader. Ijino has now been the Nidaime Kazekage for 6 months, and is struggling to keep up with her position. She definitely wasn't prepared for all the behind the scenes and administrative work that came with the position, but she was willing to do anything to restore the Yoseikei's reputation of honour amongst the villagers and she was also willing to do anything to protect Sunagakure and the people of Kaze no Kuni | ||||||||
SPECIALIZATIONS: KEKKEI GENKAI: Shakuton Release SKILL RANK:(A) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: A master at her family's kekkei genkai, she is able to manipulate many jutsu with ease. She is also able to control other Yoseikei clan member's shakuton techniques if they are spiraling out of control. She relies heavily on these techniques while in combat. NINJUTSU: SKILL RANK:(B) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: As part of her training with Shakuton, she felt the need to be able to also use Katon and Fuuton techniques, to make her a more rounded shinobi, and also because she felt these individual elemental techniques would augment the power of her shakuton techniques. TAIJUTSU: SKILL RANK:(C) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Taijutsu has not been a major focus of Ijino's training as she prefers to use her kekkai genkai and bukijutsu techniques. She is able to hold her own in hand to hand combat, but if she were to come against someone with any sort of focus in taijutsu, she would have difficulty keeping up. BUKIJUTSU: SKILL RANK:(A) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Bukijutsu was Ijino's other focus in her training. Especially with tessen fans, she's always thought of them as an elegant weapon, and they also serve their practical purpose in the hot climate of Kaze no Kuni. She uses the fans as regular weapons, but she also uses them in tandem with her ninjutsu techniques. GENJUTSU: SKILL RANK:(C) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: When it comes to genjutsu, Ijino knows what she has to know to defend herself against an opponent using genjutsu such as Kai and that's about it, she doesn't have any real aptitude for the style so she focuses on the other fighting styles that she is better suited towards. FUUINJUSTU: SKILL RANK:(D) SKILL LEVEL DESCRIPTION: Ijino's skill level with fuuinjutsu is pretty much at the same level as her skills in genjutsu. She knows what little she needs to and that's about it. She has been training more in fuuinjutsu since become the Kazekage as she feels the need when it comes to certain creatures lurking in her country, but her skill is negligible. | ||||||||

But her strong will also translates into a useful skill when she might fall prey to genjutsu users. She's developed her will so it is harder for her to be put under a genjutsu, and if she does fall prey to one, depending on circumstance of the technique, it could be easier for her to snap herself out of it. Enhanced Strength Ijino made strength training a priority in her training routine. She trained daily running long distances in the sand dunes of Kaze no Kuni with weights around her ankles and wrists as an example of her training. Because of years of this type of training she is able to run long distances while carrying loads weighing up to 450 lbs, shorter distances if she attempts to carry more, and with difficulty. She is also able to lift very large, very heavy boulders and could throw them at relatively far distances of up to 250 ft. She uses this strength that she has a defensive tool as well, being able to dig her feet into the ground if it is solid enough to block head on attacks and break projectiles that might come her way. Monstrous Chakra Pools Because of Ijino's dual specialization in ninjutsu, she felt that having large amounts of chakra were essential to improving her skills. Her huge chakra pools allow her to use jutsu after jutsu without running out of chakra any time soon. Enhanced Eyesight The harsh, bright, blinding conditions of the deserts that Ijino lives in, has enabled her to adapt her eyesight so she is able to see clearly on the brightest of days. The sun doesn't blind her like it would other people who would need to shield their eyes from the sun's harsh rays with sunglasses. This gives her great advantage in her environment, allowing her to see people coming from far distances that others might not be able to see because of the blinding light reflecting off of the sand. Born to Lead Ijino has always exhibited the qualities that her clan valued in their leaders. She could think clearly under great amounts of pressure, and not just think clearly, but able to assess situations and come up with solutions. She also has shown that she is able to lead groups of people, and get them to trust and respect her and what she says. She's a woman that commands respect from her peers, and with good reason. Enhanced Speed Sand is incredibly difficult move quickly in. So naturally, Ijino needed to train so she was able to be as fast as she needed to be while fighting in sandy environments, which were everywhere. Her strength training contributed in helping increase her speed, because of the weights she would run in. When she ran now in sand, without the weights, she could reach speeds of 50 km/hr and could hold those speeds for upwards of 2 hours, double that if she was on solid ground. | ||||||||
