KAGEYOSHI CLAN |
CLAN TYPE:-- Hiden VILLAGE:-- Yamigakure ORIGIN: -- Oni no kuni CLAN HISTORY: -- During the time before the shinobi village was founded within lands, a clan known as the Kageyoshi had settled in an area of oni no kuni with the deepest shroud of the country's famous darkened areas, where almost no sun covered the area. Because of it being the darkest area within the country, no other shinobi clan dared to traverse it's lands besides the Kageyoshi clan. The area the Kageyoshi clan had claimed as their own was at the time, the most rural and unexplored territory of oni no kuni. The clan quickly made great use of the natural deposits of resources, using the natural darkness to survive and eventually thrive during very troubled times. The shinobi clans inland were being hired all over the continent by various nations to battle over mostly territory disputes. Oni no kuni would also see it's clans battle across it's nation, however instead of being hired by the nation itself. The clans of Oni no kuni fought for supremacy of the island nation, since Oni no Kuni was separated from the continent the country didn't really fight amongst the other nations. The Kageyoshi clan was the few shinobi within oni no kuni who were exceptionally talented in ninjutsu, especially juinjutsu. Using their abilities they would become legend as they created a name for themselves, though being as elusive as they were none of the other clans could pinpoint their exact location, only knowing they dwell within the darkest darkness of oni no Kuni. The clan's intangible nature allowed for them to effectively fight against the other shinobi clans who were born with devastating abilities. The Kageyoshi clan had honed this particular skill to the point where the Kageyoshi clan could attack one clan and blame the incident on another, without ever catching the blame or retaliation. Even if there were evidence that the Kageyoshi were involved most of the clans would deny the evidence as a cover up, only because it was hard to even prove the clan's existence. Despite their elusive and intangible nature, a few of the clans had enough gall to try and enter the thick darkness to rid the world of the infamous Kageyoshi, only to never hear from their Shinobi again. The Kageyoshi clan previously thought their territory to be uninhabited, because of the unusual dense darkness. However they would soon find out that this particular part of the country was inhabited by unusually intelligent Dragons, these enormous species of Dragons, many differing in size and colors dominated the area in terms of numbers. Over the course of the next few years the Dragons would begin to defend their territory. The Kageyoshi clan would come to find out that these weren't ordinary reptiles as they were far more intelligent then normal animals. This would prompt the Kageyoshi leaders to domesticate the animals in hopes to use them to the Clan's benifit. It took years and countless deaths on both sides before both the Dragons and the Kageyoshi clan decided that they could coexist, as such the two very different species would go on to create an unbreakable bond and an even stronger respect with one another. As the years passed and their bond grew, the Kageyoshi clan would learn a lot from the Dragons, ranging from their predatory nature to their natural hunting and ambushing tactics. In turn, the Kageyoshi clan would go on to create a number of jutsu utilizing the Dragons as their very own summons further increasing their already considerable bond. This had both good and bad consequences for the Kageyoshi, they now had a new strong and loyal ally, however the other clans now had something to connect the Kageyoshi clan too and as such would damage their notable intangibility. Despite this, the pros of having the Dragons as clan summons outweighed the cons of having the other clans recognizing them. Since making the pact with the Dragons, the Kageyoshi clan quickly rose in infamy being considered a clan comprised of Oni, named after their country and the Tokage Juinjutsu that allowed the Kageyoshi clan shinobi and their summons take on each others characteristics. With the slow emergence of Shinobi villages in the rest of the world, the man who would become known as the Oni Lord had taken on the Will of the his father and would inspire them to join his forces. The clan leaders communed in a rarely-seen gathering, and over five days and five nights they formed an alliance, written out in full and signed in each leader's own blood to make the contract binding. With this, the clans and the few shinobi who didn’t belong to clans became the first citizens of the newly crowned Yamigakure no Sato. Not long after this, the leader of Yamigakure, Akuma Souzin approached the Kageyoshi clan at the edge of the thickest blanket of darkness within Oni no kuni to acknowledge the Kageyoshi's power and ask for them to join the newly formed village. The Dragons, now known as the Ryū-nin or Ninja Dragons were highly resistant at first being that the only other humans they ever saw or trusted were the Kageyoshi clan, however the Kageyoshi leaders thought this merger to be best for both the clan and the Ryū-nin. To persuade the Dragons trust, the leaders of the Kageyoshi demanded that all Ryū-nim be protected under the law of Yamigakure as they two would become shinobi of the Hidden Darkness. With negotiations and demands met both the Kageyoshi clan and their Ryū-nin would become apart of Yamigakure's history. CLAN IDEOLOGY: -- Despite being the most recent clan to join Yamigakure, the Kageyoshi clan carries themselves with a large degree nobility. Firm and unyielding, the Kageyoshi clan believes that the interests of the village should be placed above all else, even ethics and morals. Considered extremist, the Kageyoshi clan prefer to directly eliminate threats through assassination, execution and even war, rather than diplomacy and negotiations. Because of these views the Kageyoshi clan is one of the most militaristic clans with Oni no kuni. The Kageyoshi clan's fanatical aspect to their personality makes them highly analytic and strategic, even when outside of battles. This aspect of the Kageyoshi clan nature doesn't allow their anger and aggression to cloud their judgment or causes them to go into fits of rage. That being said, they are extremely perceptive and adaptive, able to coolly judge which courses of action will lead to the most beneficial results and capable of thinking and acting on the fly in response to unpredictable or mutable circumstances. Most likely a product of their shinobi ideology, the entire clan, staunchly believes in "survival of the fittest" philosophy. As such, they have no tolerance at all for weakness or lack of willpower. Because of this philosophy the clan fosters great distaste for the concepts or mindsets that promotes easy handouts and unnecessary compromise. While the Kageyoshi clan cannot be said to have a "soft spot" for anyone in particular, they are deceptively loyal and selfless individuals when it comes to their village, because of this they are prone to taking great risks in order to protect Yamigakure. CLAN ABILITIES: -- Juinjutsu Specialist: The Kageyoshi clan has become renowned for their skill in Juinjutsu just as much as they have become infamous for their Dragons and their feral nature. A member of the Kageyoshi is taught at a young age how to use and develop Juinjutsu. Mainly due to the complicated Juinjutsu that connects the members to their Ryūnin the Kageyoshi have decided to make Fuin their primary means of fighting. The art of Juinjutsu comes easy to those of the Kageyoshi clan due to their extensive research in it the clan passes on an innate skill to learn and understand Juinjutsu able to recognize and counter seals simply by looking at them. The Kageyoshi are known as one of the best if not the best users of Juinjutsu in Oni no Kuni, with all the members have at least a secondary specialization in Juinjutsu. Ryūnin | Dragon-nin The Ryūnin are unique species of summon Dragons who inhabited an area within Oni no kuni with the thickest darkness, they have heightened senses and abilities and as such are able to work with the shinobi of the Kageyoshi clan. The Kageyoshi clan members are given their own Dragon partner when they reach a certain age, usually when they could talk. Thereafter, the shinobi and their Dragon are practically inseparable. The clan's fighting style primarily revolves around their enhanced physiology granted by the Taidana Tokageshīru and other techniques they master together, including the tactical advantages granted by their heightened senses. In short, the seal gives the Kageyoshi access to the Dragon’s abilities and physiology to an extent and vice-versa. Though it is a rarity among the clan, It should still be noted that because of this ability to share physiologies through the years, many aspects that have been passed between the pair while the seal was active became permanent. So, it's not uncommon to see a scaly looking Kageyoshi clan member or a Ryūnin whose retained the ability to talk, these permanent changes could also extend to the Dragons Sensory abilities, however this is exceedingly rare. Note: A Ryu-nin can only have one element For example a Ryu-nin with Katon would be a Fire Dragon. Lastly a Ryu-nin is limited to it’s breathe attack until their seal is activated once in humanoid form they will have access to hand seals and jutsu. Taidana Tokageshīru | Lazy Lizard Seal As soon as a member of the Kageyoshi clan is able to walk and talk they are paired with one of the clans Ryūnin, from that point the pair is virtually inseparable. Once the Kageyoshi shinobi enters the academy, the clan member and the Ryūnin both become imbued with the Taidana Tokageshīru or the Lazy Lizard Seal. It is a sealing technique unique to the Kageyoshi clan that causes those affected by it to be able to share their physiology between them. The physical and anatomical features granted to the Kageyoshi clan member greatly differs from person to person depending on their Ryūnin partner. The seal connects the two being through the use of their DNA; to achieve this the seal is created with a mixture of both the Ryūnin and clan member's blood. It should be noted that the Dragon partner does not have to be summoned in order for the seal to work, however the Dragon is usually present. Ryūnin Sensing | Dragon Ninja Sensing With the melding process, the Kageyoshi have gained access to the sensory skills of their Dragon, this is one of the first traits that a Kageyoshi are taught to control, from the enhanced sense of smell to the ability to stereoscopic vision. As far as range is concerned, a Kageyoshi is naturally able to pick up a scent from 2 miles out, while with training their range of smell can be much further and can follow it even through water as well as being able to recall any scent they have smelled at least once making them excellent trackers. In terms of sight the Kageyoshi are highly praised clarity and perception. They are able to detect and identify even the slightest of movement much easier than shinobi without aide such as Doujutsu. In the past this allowed the Kageyoshi to wage war within some of the thickest darkness the oni country could muster. Ryūnin Physiology | Kageyoshi Clan Member The sealing method grants the Kageyoshi the ability to call upon the very anatomical features of the unique summon Dragons found only in Oni no kuni. This ability greatly differs from Kageyoshi to Kageyoshi as the affects directly correspond to the Kageyoshi's Ryūnin partner. Though there are traits common among all Kageyoshi, such as heightened senses and endurance or for example, a Kageyoshi can transform their hand into talons, grow wings and Dragon like tails or even use their partner’s breathe attack. The Kageyoshi also gains the ability to form scales created from tiny bones called osteoderms which give the Kageyoshi durability akin to chain mail. The Kageyoshi are able to run chakra through these scales to bring their durability up to an even greater level. These scales can deflect small blows from standard Katana as well as thrown Kunai and shuriken. However, these scales are subject to the same weaknesses as chain mail as in not stopping blunt force damage. The scales are a great defense tool for the Kageyoshi. Simply put the Lazy Lizard Seal enables a Kageyoshi clan member to utilize any of their Ryūnin partner's unique anatomical features, Basically turning the Kageyoshi clan member into a Dragon-nin themselves, allowing for a great advantage in battle that could turn the tides of any fight. Human Physiology | Ryūnin Only Like their Kageyoshi partner, the seal also grants the Ryūnin the same abilities. However, the Dragon to becomes more human instead, becoming bipedal and looking much like a their partner who has used the ability to become more Dragon like. Once the seal is activated the Dragons become highly more intelligent than in their normal form making them able to speak human tongue and better utilize their shinobi training which effectively ups their ability in battle. Lastly, the dragons itself will shrink in size as it becomes more humanoid with it’s max height being 15ft tall. CLAN HIERARCHY: -- The way that the Kageyoshi clan chooses its leader has never changed, and is based directly on their ideology of survival of the fittest. Because of this the clan believes that it should be led by the strongest within the clan. This is not to say that they are savages that believe that the clan members should fight to the death to find the strongest warrior to lead them. Usually when choosing to whom among them should lead the clan the entirety of the clan convenes to discuss the issue, what this usually means for the members of the clan is discussing the achievements of the higher ranked ninja to decide who the strongest is. The merits usually discussed are missions as well as number of kills in active duty, as well as the skill level of those of the highest rank within the clan (meaning Jounin). The discussions last until someone nominates one of the members discussed for leadership. Once one person is nominated this starts the nomination phase of the discussion the member nominated needs at least ten people to vouch for them before being seriously considered, this is also the time where other members can be nominated. One of two things can happen after this, if another member is not successfully nominated then the first member nominated becomes the leader of the clan. However, if another member is nominated too, then the next phase of the clan leader selection process happens. The next phase is a tournament (if there are more than two nominees), or a duel against the two nominees. While the fighting is akin to sparring with one another the match is taken very seriously and is fought with honor. The fight has the dual purpose of finding out who is stronger as well as showing the clan that their new leader will fight with honor. These two things are very important to the clan and anyone who shows that they cannot fight with honor will be dismissed from the clan. The clan leader has complete control over the clan being in charge of all clan decisions. However, if a member of the clan is believes that they would make a better leader then they can use their right to challenge which all members of the clan have regardless of age sex or skill level. Once a member decides to use their right of challenge they need backers who believe that they will make a better leader than the current head. If the challenger receives ten people to support their claim then the two will duel for the spot of clan leader. Finally the current clan leader cannot assign someone the position even if they are on their deathbed they must leave the decision to the clan.
