Puppetry Systems
Rules and Restrictions
Greetings
Your neighborhood Witchdoctor here (I understand that you may be confused as to why Baby Kurama is posting this but just go with it lol). Puppets (傀儡, Kugutsu) are used as weapons by puppeteers. They are most often humanoid-looking creations, but depending on the creator, can resemble anything. They are fashioned in a manner that uses every part as a weapon, giving the puppeteer a myriad of ways to manipulate it. Puppets are long-ranged type weapons that can be used offensively, defensively or for supplementary reasons, and are controlled via chakra threads a la the [Puppetry Technique]. Due to their design, the weak point of any puppet is its joints. There are two types of puppets: ones made from material such as wood, and human puppets (recently deceased humans turned into weaponized creations). While not a rule, puppets are often sealed within scrolls using fūinjutsu, for ease of transport. Also note that Human Puppets for the time being cannot be applied for as a starting puppet.Da Chart!!
The chart below designates the number of puppets of each rank one can start with, depending on one's own ninja ranking. It should be noted that these numbers are what a puppeteer can start with, and like jutsu, more can be created later on.Ninja Rank | Puppet (E) | Puppet (D) | Puppet (C) | Puppet (B) | Puppet (A) | Puppet (S)
Academy Student (E) | One | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A
Genin (D) | Two | One | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A
Chunin (C) | Four | Two | Two | N/A | N/A | N/A
Tokubetsu Jonin (C) | Sx | Four | Four | Two | N/A | N/A
Jonin (B) | Eight | Six | Five | Three | One | N/A
Village Leader (A) | Ten | Eight | Six | Four | Two | N/A |
Rules & Restrictions
2.) Using a puppet's weapons does not require chakra. Unless the weaponry is chakra based, the only cost associated with a puppet is the initial using of Kugutsu no Jutsu and the maintaining of chakra strings.
3.) No puppeteer may use more than ten puppets at one time, one for each finger. Five puppets are allowed per hand. If one gains the master puppeteer special characteristic they will be able to control more puppets per hand.
4.) Puppeteers have a limit to how many puppets they can control per rank, this means a genin can't control ten puppets from the start.
PUPPET CONTROL CAPABILITIES
* Academy Student/E rank - 1 puppet
* Genin/D rank - 2 puppets
* Chūnin/C rank - 5 puppets
* Tokubetsu Jōnin/C rank - 6 puppets
* Jōnin/B rank - 8 puppets
* Village Leader/A rank - 10 puppets
Puppetry Skill
All puppets have some form of lag when responding to their user, this isn't often noticeable against normal ninja; however as one learns to increase their speed and reflexes the lag becomes less noticeable than before. Due to the nature of puppetry, one's ability to effectively use puppets in conjunction with the [Puppetry Technique] is solely dependent on one's Puppetry skill. Naturally, the higher one's Puppetry skill ranking, the better a puppeteer can perform and fight with their puppets. This will be added to the Hiden/KKG slot of the application for you character along with a ranking and a short description, if you cannot think up a description just personalize what is below. Also while your Rank in puppetry does not count toward your Archetype the highest level you can start with is tied directly to your Shinobi rank I.E. Genin would be D rank and Kazekage would be A rank in puppetry.Puppetry Skill Rank | Puppet Response |
E | The user is new to the art of puppetry and as such the movements of one's puppet will be incredibly jerky and semi unresponsive. Controlling a puppet at this stage is exceedingly difficult, and as such, engaging in combat with puppets is impossible due to the sheer concentration required, and must remain stationary. |
D | The user will have to perform more hand motions than most because they are still new to puppetry and often have less control of a puppet than an experienced user. So naturally the puppet won't respond immediately making it more vulnerable to attacks. The user cannot move very well while controlling the puppet having to give it all their attention in order to make it respond properly. |
C | The user has enough experience with their puppets that lets them adapt to it, still not perfect at controlling their puppets but they can still move them better than they could previously. They perform a little more than required hand motions to make their puppet respond, so the user will still be vulnerable while controlling this puppet and often cannot move at their natural speed while using it. If the user does move they will be slowed if trying to control the puppet at the same time. |
B | The user is fairly confident in their skill and they have gotten completely use to the lag that puppetry has. They perform the normal amount of hand motions and their puppets seem to respond faster than they did at a lower rank. They can also move around at normal speeds while using their puppets. |
A | The user is now considered a master puppeteer; the lag between the puppeteer and their puppets is practically invisible now that their puppets are able to react on the same level as humans. They can easily dodge attacks and even kick away enemies with ease now. Controlling a puppet is second nature so that if they aren't even hindering their focus. However if the user does focus their puppet will easily be able to push back anything assaulting the user. The lag is still noticeable and can be exploited if the user has more puppets out but it is nearly impossible to get close. Many are advised to simply retreat when facing the user as most will fall to them. Even other puppeteers have learned to retreat after merely a few seconds of battle. Their puppets are also very life like if the user wishes them to be, most assume they are humans until they enter battle. |
S | The user has exceeded mastery, one's puppets having become a true extention of the user's own body; the lag between the puppeteer and their puppets is now non-existent, appearing as if the user's puppets are moving seconds before the puppeteer has performed an action. Pupppets at this stage are able to match even the most agile and strong of elite shinobi; the user is able to engage in full-out combat and retain full control of all puppets present on the battlefield. At this stage, puppeteers are truly legendary in their skill, being able to effectively fight and split their attention between numerous opponents at once, essentially becoming "a battalion of one." Those who have reached this level are able to begin IC (in-character) development towards learning the [Human Puppet Method]. |
