Jutsu & Weapon LimitationsThe purpose of this thread is to serve as a complementary to the Shinobi Ranks thread, and it contains limitations for each rank. The limitations in question deal with techniques and weapons and the overall number that you can have for each. While this is for the sake of balance within the site, the standard is loose give or take. This is because it reflects only the average and not the exceptional, so there is a possibility that your character can circumvent the standard. However, such exceptions will be few as they are in the actual Naruverse.
Genin or D rank
Genin are the lowest rank within the Villages. Genin will know the basic academy techniques, such as the Bunshin no Jutsu and Kawarimi no Jutsu; however, what will make up a Genin's arsenal will be techniques of the D Rank, with two c rank as their trump cards. The only immediate exception for a Genin to have an extra C-rank technique are clan members (an Uchiha, for example, who has mastered the Great Fireball Technique). Genin have been seperated into two groups depending on age, and may start off with:
Ages: 10-12
- 1 Chakra Element
- 5 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 C-Ranked Weapon or item
Ages: 13-15
- 1 Chakra Element
- 5 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 4 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 C-Ranked Weapon or item
Chūnin are what Genin become after they pass the Chūnin Exams, and they are the bulk of the Regular Task Force. That being said, the Chūnin rank is the one that most often overlaps in skill, members being either C-rank or B-rank and rarely A-rank. As such, their technique standard is the one that is most loose, and will be the one that sees the most exceptions. This is also the rank where shinobi begin to find their niche and fields of specialty. A Chūnin may start off with:
Chūnin or C Rank
- Up to 2 Chakra Elements
- 8 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 6 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 B-Ranked Weapon or item and however many lower they wish (within reason)
- 6 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 6 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 B-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 B-Ranked Weapon or Item and however many lower they wish (within reason)
Special Jōnin
- Up to 2 Chakra Elements, 3 Elements if Specializing in Elemental Ninjutsu
- 10 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 8 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 B-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 B-Ranked Weapons or Items (however many lower within reason) [three if specializing in weapons]
- 10 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 6 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 B-Ranked Jutsu
- 1 A-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 B-Ranked Weapons or Items (however many lower within reason)
- 1 A-Ranked Weapon or item [if specializing in weapons]
Jōnin or B rank
Now we enter the cream of the crop: Jōnin. This level of shinobi is very difficult to defeat in combat due to two things: their well roundness and more importantly their expertise in their specialties. In order to reach this rank, a character has to be specially appointed by the Kage. These shinobi are sometimes sensei to a squad. Jōnin starts with:
- Up to 3 Chakra Elements
- 10 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 10 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 4 B-Ranked Jutsu
- 2 A-Ranked Jutsu
- 3 B-Ranked weapons or items (however many lower within reason)
- 1 A-Ranked Weapon
Village Leader or A rank
Finally, we have the A-rank, which is the rarest rank of ninja there is, the stuff that gets made into legend and spoken about to the point that others can hardly believe they are true. Just one of these ninja is enough to change the course of history. A-ranks are known to have incredible knowledge of techniques, other villages, and various clans, making them difficult to deal with in a fight even apart from their abilities. Some even have enough bite to their bark to battle against a Tailed Beast. A-ranks start with:
- Up to 3 Chakra Elements
- 12 D-Ranked Jutsu
- 12 C-Ranked Jutsu
- 6 B-Ranked Jutsu
- 4 A-Ranked Jutsu
- 3 B-Ranked Weapons or Items (however many lower within reason)
- 2 A-Ranked Weapons or Items
