Good Morrow my little rebels, it's your annoying staff again with more information to help you understand Naruto:Rebellion. In this thread, we'll go over Special Abilities. NRB's take on Special Abilities is slightly different than other Naruto Rps. Instead of keeping to the usual Special Abilities we're all familiar with, the staff has decided to broaden our horizons when it comes to SAs. Things like "king's Charisma" or chakra that affects your surroundings are allowed on NRB and could possibly turn the tide of battle.The Usuals
Shinobi Mastery - This term can be used for any SA that pertains to the shinobi arts such as "Ninjutsu Master" or "Genjutsu Prodigy" These SAs have gone the way of the Dodo and is no longer needed due to the creation of the Specialty System. That being said these type of SAs will not be allowed as a Special Ability for your shinobi as they should and will be mentioned in the Specialty Section, under the specific shinobi art, of your character application.Enhanced Chakra Reserves & Control - Unlike Shinobi Mastery Traits, these two abilities are still allowed. Slightly self-explanatory for those who are used to Naruto Rps. A shinobi with greater reserves will capable of utilizing more jutsu over a short amount of time without tiring out, as well as being able to use stronger jutsu more often before tiring out, however because of these shinobi having a higher supply of chakra their control over it would be diminished. While enhanced control, on the other hand, is generally seen in shinobi with average or low chakra supplies. It should be noted that any shinobi without larger chakra reserves, will generally learn better chakra control in order to make better use of what reserves they do have.
Jinchuriki - While the tailed beast had only recently appeared in the world, eventually the tailed beast will be sealed within shinobi around the world and used as both protection and weapons. Being the host of a Bijuu grants the shinobi a myriad of unique abilities and perhaps most importantly grants them an extreme boost to their chakra reserves.
Sensor Shinobi - By utilizing their enhanced chakra control, Hijutsu or clan abilities most sensor shinobi are able to feel the area around them with their chakra and determine nearby objects and individuals, even being able to differentiate between different people, their clan or even their nationality. It should be noted that a shinobi need enhanced chakra control, clan or unique ability to be able to sense chakra.
Enhanced Physical Abilities - an enhanced physical ability ranges from an individual's endurance, speed, strength, flexibility and so forth. These abilities generally are trained over years of practice, but might occasionally occur naturally from birth. This also includes Enhanced senses which are basically the five basic senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Generally, these enhanced senses occur from the absence of other senses. However, they also can be trained to be stronger or can be stronger due to a genetic inheritance.

Personality Traits - One of our personal favorites, these SAs are one of the many new aspects we have added to the naruto RPG world. These abilities would be anything that is derived from the shinobi's personality. Such as "S-rank Seductress" or "Masterful Subterfuge" which is basically lying. These SAs potentially have the ability to allow the shinobi to manipulation their targets even without jutsu, instead relying on good old human nature. This kind of SA We've seen and even used once upon a time, and every time they have been ignored by staff and fellow members. So, the staff wanted to formally introduce this group of SAs and hope they'll be very popular. Additionally, these SAs borderlines power playing or meta-gaming, with this in mind staff have created a way of using these and other SAs in and out of battle. Lastly, this system will balance SAs between shinobi, while pertaining to their skill.Occupational Traits - Occupational or vocational traits are another category of shinobi SAs. This type of SA includes but is not limited to certain jobs such as being in the ANBU, being a village leader or any job or job skill that could help the shinobi IC. These traits or special abilities can also be everyday traits that normal humans such as villagers have, things like being a chef or Blacksmith. An example of this in the Canon narutoverse would be "Enka Ninja" Sabu who was seen speaking to Killer Bee. Shinobi with these type of SAs have learned how to turn their non-combat related abilities into useful skills when in battle. These SAs are designed so that even if they were non-combat occupations they could grant some degree of combat advantage. For example, A shinobi with a Master Chef SA could create chakra enhancing meals for various situations or a Medic nin could theoretically use medical and herbal knowledge to create poisons on the go(albeit the poison would have to be an approved one, the shinobi still gets the benefit of being able to create it during battle).
Chakra Signature Trait - Chakra Signature SAs would be the term for any special ability that gives the shinobi's pure unrestrained chakra an effect. This can range from a number of unique uses such as affecting the environment when being released such as causing cracks in the ground, levitating small rocks or even causing the air itself to get dense, some of these are purely aesthetic. However, the person's chakra could even take on the nature of the elemental release they were born with, which could prove dangerous. In the canon naruto series we've seen that chakra itself is fairly influenced by its owner's personality, will, and most importantly their emotions. Because of this, NRB will be allowing Chakra with its own "feel" or SAs such as Killing Intent. However, these type of SAs will be closely watched, as they could be abused, there will be more on how staff plan to balance these SA's later in this thread. >_> probably the next lil chapter thingy.
Special Ability VS Special Ability <_< Vs Shinobi
With the introduction of the Next Gen 2.0 Special Abilities, we have decided to put in place a small little system to hopefully balance out the borderline power-play and Meta-gaming abilities of the newer and even the older SAs. Shinobi with these sort of abilities are seen throughout the shinobi world, Most often than not, more than one shinobi will have the same SA or a situation will arise where one member will have a next gen SA and the other member will disagree with that SA affecting them. So to balance this, we've decided to set a basic power structure when it comes to SAs. You should first give an IC description of your SA, and then translate said SA into OCC format, make sure to italics the OCC part to differentiate between the two. Keep in mind your shinobi's specialty and rank when you create your SAs. For example, a B-ranked Taijutsu specialist without a Speed SA would equal a B ranked Ninjutsu Specialist with a Speed SA in terms of speed. The following bullet points will be an example of the power structure and an example of how your SA should read on your character application. Some of the SAs are self-explanatory and won't be mentioned, such as Enhanced Chakra Control and Reserves, sensor shinobi, and the Jinchuriki SA.- The Usuals -
- Enhanced Physical Strength - Being the Kazekage of Sunagakure and the one of the most power shinobi's in the village. Gaara's strength is absolutely monstrous. He is able to easily lift shinobi of greater size than himself, break through walls or even stop an enemy's weapon with his bare hands. Additionally, Gaara's strength also come in handy outside of battle, allowing him to pick up, move or even destroy most things that he comes in contact with. This SA grants Gaara strength stronger than normal NPCs and Shinobi NPCs of lower rank or ones without a Strength SA or Jutsu to enhance their strength. PCs without a strength SA or Jutsu would be weaker than Gaara, while shinobi who are the same Rank as Gaara with the same SA or Jutsu would be on equal terms with him.
- Enhanced Hearing - Despite Obito being a Genin(D ranked) his hearing is on an entirely different level. Even at birth, the boy's sense of hearing was well beyond that of most shinobi, including adults. Now at the age of 13 and with a minor amount of training under his belt, Obito's hearing has blossomed to higher levels. He is able to hear the small sounds his opponent's make while also being able to hear sounds as far as so and so miles. This SA allows Obito a higher sense of hearing than most shinobi his age, his sense of hearing is greater than D shinobi without a hearing SA or Jutsu and on par with C-ranked shinobi without a hearing SA or jutsu. Shinobi of the same rank as Obito with an SA or jutsu for hearing would also be on equal terms with Obito.

- Enhanced Physical Speed - Jiraiya was born with an unnatural amount of physical speed, during his years as a genin the boy's speed would be put to the test and then refined to his current state. Now at the rank of Chunin and after having spent most of his younger years training in the art of Taijutsu, jiraiya's speed is unimaginable for his rank, he is easily able to fight, flee or distract his opponents in battle while leaving most of them unaware of what happened. Jiraiya's Speed SA translates Into him Being Faster Than D ranked shinobi With or without a Speed SA or speed enhancing Jutsu. Additionally, Jiraiya is faster than C ranked shinobi without a Speed SA or jutsu that increases their speed. Because he is primarily a Taijutsu user, his speed is also higher than c ranked Shinobi with a Speed SA or a jutsu that enhances their speed. Because of his Taijutsu training and this SA, He is also on equal terms with B rank shinobi who aren't Taijutsu primary and who do not have a Speed SA. Lastly, Jiraiya Wouldn't Be Faster Than A Shinobi who is B ranked and have a Speed SA or Primarily Uses Taijutsu, without the SA.
Next Gen Special Ability 2.0
- Personality Traits - Master Manipulator - Vallen's ability to manipulate someone is one of the most defining features of his personality He Can Deceive And Manipulate Others Around Him In Different Ways For A Variety Of Purposes. He Has A Great Talent For Analyzing And Observing Everything In His Presence, Allowing Him To Understand A Person's Pattern Of Thinking And Better Manipulate Them. This translate into Vallen being able to manipulate Any NPC under his skill level or an NPC equal to his skill Without A Strong Will SA. NPCs With A Strong Will SA Would Need To Be Equal To Vallen's Skill Level In Order For Them To Resist Or Notice His Manipulation. When dealing with PC characters, this SA would allow Vallen to manipulate or persuade any shinobi under his overall skill rank while shinobi equal to his rank could notice or resist his manipulations. Additionally, only shinobi who are of higher skill rank than him or on equal terms w/ a will power SA can resist his manipulation completely. It should be noted that skill rank plays a big part with these SAs. Example: Kage>Jounin>Chunin>Genin.
- Occupational Traits - Ikkaku is known around the world as the great Ryōri Shinobi" or Great Cooking Ninja. His meals and entire convections have earned him fame and infamy. Over the years he has learned how to incorporate his immense cooking abilities into his shinobi styles, allowing Ikakku to create scrumptious meals that could turn the tides of any battle. From amazing sweets that revitalize one's bodies to spoiled monstrous constructs of half cooked meat. This SA allows Ikkaku to use food based ninjutsu as it's main ability while Ikakku's knowledge of foods, spices and herbs allow him to locate ingredients while on missions or during battle. This enables him to create foods mid-battle, given he has the right ingredients.
- Chakra Signature Trait - Killer Intent\Chakra signature - It is said that Chakra reflects its owner's personality and emotions, this couldn't be any more true in Unohana's case. Her chakra is tainted with her brutal and sadistic nature. By simply releasing or focusing her chakra and having it wash over her surroundings, Unohana's body releases this sadistic or brutal nature that causes weaker shinobi such as genin and chuunin to tremble uncontrollably and sometimes become paralyzed with fear. Shinobi with a higher rank or willpower would be able to overcome this effect and keep on fighting although their body would still feel her Sadistic intent. Any normal NPC or Shinobi NPC under Unohana's rank will instantly feel the effects of her chakra, becoming too frightened to concentrate on their battles or worse becoming paralyzed with fear. PC shinobi who aren't strong willed( be it in their character's personality or with some type of Strong-willed SA) will be susceptive to her chakra's sadistic intent and would break down in fear over time. Their first exposure would make it hard to concentrate on things such as molding chakra or weaving hand seals, then as the battle progresses the shinobi could very well become paralyzed with fear, depending the thread and shinobis in question. Shinobi who are stronger or on equal in rank with Unohana would still be affected by her ability, however to a much lesser extent, as they would still be able to fight without hindrance and for a longer duration before the chakra begins to affect them. It should be noted that a character could overcome their fear of Unohana and render this ability useless.Rank Limitations:Academy Student - 1 SA
