The Northern Lights Great Lakes (極層輝偉い湖; kisōki eraiko, lit. "northern lights distinguished lakes") are a series of five interconnected freshwater lakes located primarily in the upper midwest region of the Land of Lighting, which connect to the Hokuba Ocean through the Gekkeikan River. Consisting of Lakes Hadashi, Michigan, Furon, Erie, and Ontariō, they form the largest group of freshwater lakes in the Land of Lightning, containing 47% of the country's surface fresh water by volume. Due to their sea-like characteristics (rolling waves, sustained winds, strong currents, great depths, and distant horizons) the five Great Lakes have also long been referred to as inland seas.

The 7th Heaven mountain range (第七天国; dainanatenguni, lit. "7th heaven mountain range"), consists of the seven tallest mountains in the Land of Lightning. The mountains range are incredibly beautiful, home to some of the region's most breat-taking natural sites. Be warned, for the these mountains are not for the faint of heart, being home to some of the most dangerous animals in the country. As well, the whole range emits a field which wholly disrupts chakra, preventing any use of it.
Castle of the Seven Founders (七始祖城; nanashisojō, lit. "seven founders castle"), more commonly known as Marble Castle, is a giant white castle which hovers over Kumogakure, high above the village from prying eyes. Marble Castle is the true "capital" of the Land of Lightning, and it is here where the daimyō resides. As the formation wars and clan wars ensued, Kumogakure wanted to ensure the daimyō's continued political support; the daimyō agreed on the condition that she receive protection from those who wished ill towards her. Thus the seven most prominent clans in the Land of Lightning offered their services, each contributing their skills in some aspect.

Genbu [玄武; genbu, literally "black turtle"], more commonly known as the Island Turtle (島亀; shimagame, lit. "island turtle") is a gigantic and ancient turtle that resides in the Land of Lightning. Since its founding and taming by Yokoshima Kurahama, it has been cared for by Kumogakure and serves as a training ground for the Kumo ninja. It is described as a moving fortress and size is so great that it can host other large animals as well as other natural and man-made structures. The turtle's shell, the "island", has an accumulation of plant life that has grown on it. Described as a paradise by those who have never seen it, Genbu is anything but that to humans, with signs of death and battle everywhere and large, ferocious animals populating the island. The Falls of Truth can also be found on the island. The island is protected by a giant squid, which attacks anything that approaches. In addition, the island can move through the surrounding bodies of water freely, making it impossible to find without air reconnaissance. The turtle itself is incredibly large, rivaling the Ten-Tails in size. It is mostly grey in color, with spikes protruding from its shell and with a blue underbelly. Its shell is extremely sturdy, being able to withstand attacks of powerful techniques and, according to Kurahama, could even house a tailed beast; it is implied that its underbelly is less so, but still strong enough to handle powerful explosions without sustaining any damage.
